Our school is a STEM Magnet Elementary school and I would like for my students to keep up with the latest advancement in education. Every student is unique and has his/her learning style; thus, students require a classroom that has flexible seating. Flexible seating has many advantages. It allows students to move around the room freely and work collaboratively with others in the classroom sharing their materials and ideas. In addition, when students are uncomfortable, they are often distracted and unproductive. However, flexible seating allows students to find comfortable seating throughout the classroom, which allows them to work productively. Lastly, many of the flexible seating options stimulate students' sense of touch. This type of stimulation can help children focus and process information. The Flex-Space comfy floor seats will be used to create a small literature circle group. Students will hold book discussions within these groups. Wobble Chairs and the Balance Balls will be used by students who have a hard time sitting for an extended amount of time. The portable lap desks will be useful for students who would like to work independently or with partners anywhere in the classroom. The bed risers will be used to raise the tables to accommodate for those students who prefer to stand when they are working. The kneeling pads will be useful for the tables that will be lowered. Each item will be used to create a classroom that fits the needs of each student.
