The materials you funded have allowed students to build and test real prototypes of emergency supply pods, helping them explore how mass, air resistance, and collision time affect impact force. One of my favorite moments was watching students debate which cushioning material (cotton balls, packing peanuts, or coffee filters) would protect a fragile \"cargo.\" They tested, redesigned, and tested again, cheering every time a pod survived the drop.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate. Many asked, \"Are we really building these ourselves?\" and \"Can we test again?\" They loved that this wasn't just reading or watching videos, they were doing real engineering work with real choices and real consequences.\r\n\r\nAs we continue, students will use the data they've collected to refine their designs and write a final engineering proposal explaining and defending their decisions. This experience has helped them see science as creative, meaningful, and connected to real-world problems, and that is a gift your support made possible.","fullyFundedDate":1758735907359,"projectUrl":"project/crash-test-engineers-designing-supply-p/9651127/","projectTitle":"Crash-Test Engineers: Designing Supply Pods to Save Lives!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Siordia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9573222"},{"teacherId":417355,"projectId":9002024,"letterContent":"Thank you, oh thank you, for all the Ozian love you gave to our library! When I received the notification, I was beyond happy because I am a second year teacher here in Los Angeles Academy Middle School. I as a second year teacher, who comes from the same community as my students was happy to be providing them a variety of snacks for them to provide in their student store. Most of my students do not have access to certain of these snacks to be able to take home as a snack for the weekends due to being low income. I wish I can put into words of how grateful and beyond thankful I am for the donation for my students.\r\n\r\nWhen I notified my students at first they did not believe me. My students really believed that it was a lie, until I showed them the boxes in which I use for their Class Dojo Student Store. I wish I could have captured their faces when they saw the many variety of options to choose, was pure amazing. They are camera shy, but I will describe their faces lit up as if it was Christmas morning for them every 2 weeks on Fridays. Since they do have 2 weeks to redeem and make points to be able to use to get snacks. Many of my students informed me how they were happy to be able to choose variety of different snacks such chips ahoy, gushers, gold fishes, rice kripsies, etc. They did not have access to this at home nor had money to afford any snacks. It melted my heart for me to be able to provide this for my students to have during the weekend. It also brought joy to just see my students get excited for them to redeem their Class Dojo points for their snacks. This would not have happened because of your donation. So once again, thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts.","fullyFundedDate":1726668000160,"projectUrl":"project/help-my-students-get-snacks-for-their-cl/8680054/","projectTitle":"Help my Students get Snacks for Their Class Dojo Store.","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Soria","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9631496"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_7455","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":891,"numTeachers":47,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":9,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":88,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"19.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":85.0,"schoolId":7455,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Los Angeles Academy Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Los Angeles Academy Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/los-angeles-academy-middle-school/7455"}
