The shed will store all our garden shovels, rakes, hoes, and supplies that we normally have to keep out in full sun and weather. Over the years, these items have gotten very damaged due to the elements. We also will be able to store other supplies only for the adult volunteers in the shed as it does not have to be left out. We currently have an amazon wishlist for families and we need a place for sun shades, pruners, soil, etc. This will be a great way to help support students and families together in growing the garden. \r\n\r\nOur students love the garden hose. In past years we had to leave it rolled up on the floor and it would get damaged. The nozzle would clog and the actual hose would tear. Now, it can safely be stored upright and the nozzle can hng away from the dirt. Every week, our class goes out and waters the garden with our watering cans, small log waterfall sensory table and the hose. They unwrap and even put away the hose together. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for fostering a love and joy for community garden in our suburban school!","fullyFundedDate":1773025208446,"projectUrl":"project/garden-storage/10124674/","projectTitle":"Garden Storage","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kukuczka","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6890026_orig.png?crop=698,698,x0,y11&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1772297247284","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6890026"},{"teacherId":6890026,"projectId":10124693,"letterContent":"Our students LOVE the Chomp Saws. We started using them immediately. Students created detailed buildings prior to receiving them and they were so excited they could cut the cardboard now. We started off by having students draw out ocean animals (starfish, octopus, fish, etc). Then students, either on their own or with the teacher, cut it out with the chomp saw. We actually cut up the big box the Chomp Saws were shipped in. They were amazed at how well it cut the cardboard and how easy it was compared to scissors. We compared which they preferred and they definitely preferred the Chomp Saw. Students wanted to make another project, so then we made flowers for our Open House showcase as well. They proceeded to paint their ocean animals and use markers to decorate their flowers. We want to continue to use the Chomp Saw this year for any topic the students like. Trust me, they give lots of suggestions. \r\n\r\nNext year we would like to use them specifically to have students do these two projects: \r\n-Cut out a cardboard doll and decorate with fabric to describe their favorite clothing. \r\n-Design and build a structure of your choice (apartment, playground, house, castle, and much more). Then add a green space to it.","fullyFundedDate":1774963860225,"projectUrl":"project/young-architects-need-tools/10124693/","projectTitle":"Young Architects Need Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kukuczka","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6890026_orig.png?crop=698,698,x0,y11&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1772297247284","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6890026"},{"teacherId":9926679,"projectId":9119746,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my students and I now have the resources to create a safe space where their voices and feelings matter. When the materials first arrived, the room lit up with excitement—students immediately gathered around the board games and colored pencils, eager to try them out. One student said, \"I love coming here!\" and I could see the joy and comfort in their faces as they explored the new tools.\r\n\r\nWe've already started using the social-emotional learning books to guide discussions, and the dry-erase boards have become a favorite during reflection time. Just last week, we played a game that encouraged teamwork and problem-solving. A student who usually struggles to participate not only joined in but proudly shared how they helped their group succeed. Moments like these remind me why this project matters so much—the resources are more than supplies; they are opening doors for growth, connection, and healing.\r\n\r\nYour donation has transformed our classroom into a place of safety and hope. You've given my students tools to learn about themselves, care for their mental health, and support each other. On behalf of every student who now feels a little more seen and valued, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.","fullyFundedDate":1746804737618,"projectUrl":"project/because-take-a-deep-breath-only-works/9119746/","projectTitle":"Because \"Take a Deep Breath\" Only Works Sometimes","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Joyce","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9926679_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1740072774341","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9926679"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_7013","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":394,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":59,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":37,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":46,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"19.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":88.0,"schoolId":7013,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Knollwood Preparatory Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Knollwood Preparatory Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/knollwood-elementary-school/7013"}
