Your contribution has made a meaningful difference in the occupational therapy services I provide for my students with special needs. I have already incorporated\r\n at least half of the donated materials into my daily sessions, and they have quickly become an integral part of our therapeutic activities.\r\n\r\nThe river stepping stones, colored discs, sensory feet, and other movement materials are used four to five days a week, throughout the school day, with all of my students. They provide fun and engaging opportunities to work on important skills such as sensory\r\n processing, postural control, balance, and motor planning. The trampoline is also a favorite for students who benefit from movement and vestibular and proprioceptive input. In addition, the highlighted paper is used during handwriting activities to provide\r\n visual support and help students improve the legibility and organization of their written work.\r\n\r\nOne of the greatest benefits of these materials is how naturally they motivate my students to participate. When these items are available, my students are eager to engage, and I rarely need to convince them to join in. They are having so much fun that they\r\n often don't even realize how many important skills they are practicing along the way! These resources allow me to address therapeutic goals in creative, active, and meaningful ways that might otherwise be difficult to achieve in a traditional school setting.\r\n\r\nOf all the wonderful materials I received, one of the biggest hits has been the \r\nBeware the Bear game! My students frequently ask to play it as a fun way to end their therapy sessions. What makes it especially valuable is that, while they are enjoying the game, they are also working on proprioception, turn-taking, and self-regulation.\r\n It is such a joy to see them excited to participate while developing these essential skills through play.\r\n\r\nThere are still more donated materials that I have not had the opportunity to introduce just yet, but I look forward to incorporating them into our sessions and finding new ways to support my students' individual needs. I know they will become valuable additions\r\n to our therapy activities as well.\r\n\r\nI am truly grateful for every item received. These materials have enriched my therapy sessions, increased student engagement, and given me more opportunities to help my students learn, grow, and succeed. Your generosity has allowed my class to receive wonderful supplies that will help them explore and express their creativity. The usual supply of contruction paper is great but the different types of paper will allow the students to create art projects that are even more fun. \r\nThe students were excited to the see the new supplies and cannot wait to get their hands on them. Students will use it for the Nursery Rhymes unit and Kings and Queens unit, just to name a few. They can fold fun things with the origami paper. The hot glue gun will be extremely helpful when displaying student work around the classroom, as well as when gluing certain art projects together. The shed will store all our garden shovels, rakes, hoes, and supplies that we normally have to keep out in full sun and weather. Over the years, these items have gotten very damaged due to the elements. We also will be able to store other supplies only for the adult volunteers in the shed as it does not have to be left out. We currently have an amazon wishlist for families and we need a place for sun shades, pruners, soil, etc. This will be a great way to help support students and families together in growing the garden. \r\n\r\nOur students love the garden hose. In past years we had to leave it rolled up on the floor and it would get damaged. The nozzle would clog and the actual hose would tear. Now, it can safely be stored upright and the nozzle can hng away from the dirt. Every week, our class goes out and waters the garden with our watering cans, small log waterfall sensory table and the hose. We started using them immediately. Students created detailed buildings prior to receiving them and they were so excited they could cut the cardboard now. We started off by having students draw out ocean animals (starfish, octopus, fish, etc). Then students, either on their own or with the teacher, cut it out with the chomp saw. We actually cut up the big box the Chomp Saws were shipped in. They were amazed at how well it cut the cardboard and how easy it was compared to scissors. We compared which they preferred and they definitely preferred the Chomp Saw. Students wanted to make another project, so then we made flowers for our Open House showcase as well. They proceeded to paint their ocean animals and use markers to decorate their flowers. We want to continue to use the Chomp Saw this year for any topic the students like. Trust me, they give lots of suggestions. \r\n\r\nNext year we would like to use them specifically to have students do these two projects: \r\n-Cut out a cardboard doll and decorate with fabric to describe their favorite clothing. \r\n-Design and build a structure of your choice (apartment, playground, house, castle, and much more).
