Our number sense and vocabulary units, as well as several of their learning centers are based on hands on learning and personal ownership of their work. \r\nMany of my scholars do not know how to use scissors safely in class. These adapted tools will help us to follow up with their Occupational Therapy as well as hands-on learning in the classroom. I almost wish I had wrapped it as a holiday package just to see how they would process it.\r\nOpening the box was interesting, as studens did not know what to expect or what was coming out of it. After a quick review of installation instruction (teacher only) we put it together and I have already had us start to look at websites that have STL (printer files) that are of interest to them. We use this program as a supplimental learning tool that enhances student participation. \r\nDaily we are using this program projected on the board to learn about the calendar for each day, planning for future events, and days of the week. My students were fascinated by the simple mechanics of the feeders. They immediately crowded around, asking how a small plastic tray could hold a bird. For urban students who rarely get to interact with nature up close, just opening the bags of black oil sunflower seeds and feeling the textures became a sensory exploration as they tried to identify the different kinds of seeds in the bag. The buzz in the room was electric; they couldn't wait to set up the feeder and bird bath. Their main question was, \"Do birds need water too?\"\r\n\r\nThey are excitedly watching the interactions of the different birds and squirrels that visit the feeder, and they quickly realized that the squirrels have an advantage, and we need to figure out a way to keep the squirrels from stealing the bird food.
