I am requesting a class set of French/English dictionaries to help my 5th grade students become more proficient in the French language and gain vocabulary in the process. These dictionaries will help students with writing, reading and presenting information. They will also help students learn how to use a dictionary and how to look up words and understand the concept of multiple definitions. In our French dual-immersion program, we don't have access to many French resources, and the students are struggling with comprehension and writing. The resources that we have available online do not lend themselves to learning vocabulary and simply encourage a copy and paste mentality. I would like to change all of this with a class set of French/English dictionaries. We are one of three schools on the west coast that has received the prestigious Franc-Label award from the French government, and I am hoping that we can keep it for the next two years. In order to do so, the academic rigor of the program needs to increase and that can only be done with your help.
