This project has already made a meaningful impact on my students.\r\n\r\nEach morning, we begin our day on the carpet where we share affirmations, tell stories, answer questions, and build connections as a classroom community. During lessons and read-alouds, students eagerly choose their own leaf to sit on, creating an organic seating arrangement where they can thrive.\r\n\r\nWhen the rug first arrived, my students were speechless. Their first instinct was to lay down, feel how soft it was, and simply enjoy the space. In that moment, they felt special, valued, and at home in our classroom.\r\n\r\nThis carpet will continue to support our learning as we grow. It has already become a welcoming space where students feel safe to participate, and we look forward to using it for deeper discussions, think-pair-share activities, and group projects.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping create a classroom environment where students feel comfortable, connected, and ready to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1771284078737,"projectUrl":"project/the-heart-of-our-classroom-the-classroo/10075990/","projectTitle":"The Heart of Our Classroom: The Classroom Carpet","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Matich","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10425788_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1771088122803","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10425788"},{"teacherId":503726,"projectId":9521782,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of my classroom library. Because of you, my 5th graders were able to dive into rich, high-interest chapter books that truly stretched their comprehension, curiosity, and stamina as readers. We just finished The Wild Robot, and the level of engagement has been incredible. Students were begging for \"just one more chapter\" each day.\r\n\r\nThese books weren't just something new to read. They truly transformed how my students saw themselves as readers. Many of them had never finished a full-length novel before, and now they're proudly calling themselves \"chapter book kids.\" They made predictions, compared and contrasted characters, and wrote thoughtful responses in their reading journals. One of my favorite moments was when a student said, \"This is the first book I didn't want to put down.\" That sentence alone reminded me exactly why access to quality books matters.\r\n\r\nHaving a full group set also allowed us to read together, which built community, fluency, and confidence. My students connected deeply with Roz's character, her growth, her resilience, and her kindness. And many of them said they saw themselves in her journey. Several students have already asked if we can read the next book in the series because they're not ready to say goodbye to the story.\r\n\r\nYour gift has had a direct and immediate impact on my classroom. You didn't just fund materials, you helped create new readers.
