This summer, I attended a CGI (Cognitively Guided Instruction) Math training. I was very inspired and impressed by all the new teaching techniques and the difference it made on students' problem solving and critical thinking skills.
The materials I have selected will help me integrate and introduce the CGI Math activities and instruction to my students. Most of the materials are for students to partake in activities, such as counting collections, number talks, everyday routines, and fun math games. The supplies are for the students to not only actively engage in these activities, but also keep their learning and work neat and organized. The books asked for in the list are to keep students motivated and for them to remember to keep persevering and using their mistakes as an opportunity to aim higher.
Again, I'm really looking forward to starting this upcoming year with CGI Math activities and routines! These materials will help our classroom embrace the CGI program.
