My students were excited to see the games we received, and even more excited to play them. My students love working on their math skills by using them. They enjoy conversing and actively manipulating objects while working out math word problems. They enjoy using the Libra Frog Intelligent Game to verify if their answers and math equations are correct. They enjoy using the little frog manipulatives to add and subtract. My students get excited matching numerals and images while playing Zingo 123. They see this as a fun activity instead of a boring task. My class is consisted of Kindergarteners (I refer them as Smarties) ages 5 and 6. When they helped with opening the different types of fidgets and toys, they wanted to work with them right away. Some of their favorites were the Unicorn Stretchy Strings Toys, the Squishy Animals, and the Pin Art Boards.\r\n\r\nOne the first day, the students were able to keep a Squishy Animal on their desk as their very own fidget to use as needed. They enjoyed feeling/using it so much during independent work time, they wore them out within two weeks. \r\n\r\nMy Smarties have different levels of abilities and needs in our class. Some Smarties are highly intelligent social-emotionally, kinesthetically, and some struggle with attentiveness and self-management skills. Therefore, most of the resources such as the Wobble Cushion Set, the Stress Balls, Sensory Liquid Motion Bubbler Timers Set, and more are being used for helping students to destress. Another use has been to increase focus in learning and management their feelings and bodies. A calming corner had been created to house most of the resources for the class to access. One of my usual Smarties needs about 5 minutes once a week in the calming corner with the Pin Art Board and the Sensory Liquid Motion Bubbler Timers Set after recess break.\r\n\r\nDuring instructional time, the Unicorn Stretchy Strings Toys has been helping one student refocus his attention on learning rather than nonstop looking and picking his fingers until we see red. This fidget was his third kind, and the only one that did the trick. I am so thankful that we were able to have a varieties of fidgets and autism toys for my class to accommodate the strengths and needs of all of my Smarties. We are forever grateful for the everlasting impact you have given us. Thank you again for your compassion.","fullyFundedDate":1727289811893,"projectUrl":"project/be-cool-and-compassionate/8627748/","projectTitle":"Be Cool and Compassionate","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lam","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1286552_orig.jpg?crop=2146,2146,x169,y401&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752821221762","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1286552"},{"teacherId":1286552,"projectId":8622713,"letterContent":"Our \"Edible Counting Collections\" have been one of our weekly Fun Friday Math activities that my young scholars look forward to. I recall the day the edible math tools arrived. My students were ecstatic opening and sorting out all the goodies they recognized. They were and are still excited for counting treats weekly. \r\n\r\nFriday has been \"THE Funday\" when my young scholars shrine even brighter, and their listeners ears are automatically on super power mode before they enters the classroom. They look forward to \"Fun Friday\" anticipating to counting treats so much that they extrinsically motivate themselves with more poise and self-management skills entering school every Friday morning. During our counting treats time, students are having a blast practicing their conversational skills with their classmates and math skills in a natural free flowing way. They use their gummy bears, animal cookies, smarties and more to sort, categorize, organize by rows and columns. Most importantly, my students are using the edible tools to improve their number sense in oral counting sequentially and in written form with one-to-one correspondence. \r\n\r\nI am so proud of the progress that my young mathematicians have been making toward the kindergarten standards of counting by ones and tens from 1 to 100 and recognizing and writing their numerals from 1-20. Most of kinder scholars have met the standards of counting sequentially and have surpassed writing the numeral from 1-20. \r\n\r\nThank you donors, for making math and school fun for my mathematicians.
