They were so excited to choose which color they wanted to use, and cheered when they found out we no longer had to mute our computers or use the cheap earbuds that the school provides. We started by discussing responsibility and taking care of our things, including the headphones and making sure that they get put away on the stands. We also were able to discuss when a good time to use headphones is (independent learning) and when we may need to take them off (when I'm teaching). \r\n\r\nMy students are using their headphones for so many things. This year, I am teaching a combination class of fourth and fifth grade. This means DOUBLE the amount of standards that I need to teach in a single school year. With their new headphones, my students are able to access a variety of learning websites during their independent work time, i.e. when I am teaching the opposite grade level. They are able to do online math lessons, watch videos to do research for essays, and even listen to music as an additional reward for a job well done. The headphones also keep my students focused on what they are doing because they can finally hear their own computers without having to also listen to someone else's. \r\n\r\nIt is so exciting for my students to have these headphones and I am so grateful for the donors that helped make this wish come true.","fullyFundedDate":1758632561632,"projectUrl":"project/headphones-for-education/9713269/","projectTitle":"Headphones for Education!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Castillo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9618346_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x309,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743734756680","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9618346"},{"teacherId":990743,"projectId":9315175,"letterContent":"On the first day of school my students were intrigued by the 3D printer on the table in the corner of the room. With the arrival of the Halloween season, we had our first project: a pixel pumpkin of their own design (made using TinkerCad). \r\nThey were fascinated as the printer whirred into action. They were amazed at how fast the printer nozzle moved and confused that it would take 30 minutes or more to complete a pixel pumpkin approximately 4in. by 4in. by 3mm high. During our daily reading time, you can hear soft murmurs of students discussing characters, new words, and unexpected plot twists. Many of my English learners are especially thriving; they're using the stories to build vocabulary and confidence as readers.\r\n\r\nOne of my students used to tell me she \"wasn't a reader,\" but now she keeps her book close by so she can sneak in extra pages. I treated the jump ropes as a surprise and first had the students just hold them and play with them. Several of my students were actually already good at jumping rope and were eager to show off their skills. Other students needed more practice, so we had a lesson where we learned how to jump rope. \r\n\r\nReceiving jump ropes gave my class more structured P.E. We were able to play many different games, whether it was racing, jumping the most, or even using the jump ropes as barriers for other games. My students were engaged and had a good time with the jump ropes while they were getting exercise in. Some students even requested to use the jump ropes during their free time because they enjoyed it so much! \r\n\r\nIt was really a joy to see my students playing and having fun during their P.E. time. Since adding new items thanks to the generous donations, the excitement has grown even more. Each day, the students talk about what they are saving up for and proudly show the bucks they have earned. The store has become a motivating factor that not only brings joy but also teaches them responsibility, patience, and the value of working toward a goal. Their enthusiasm has been contagious, filling the classroom with positive energy and excitement.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most inspiring is how the store has encouraged students to stay focused on their goals in class. They are showing calmer bodies, listening ears, and completing their work with more determination because they know their efforts will pay off at the store. Behaviors that used to be a challenge, like staying on task or following routines, have improved significantly because students are motivated to earn their rewards. The donations that made this possible have truly created a ripple effect—not just by filling the store with fun items, but by helping shape a calmer, more productive, and motivated classroom environment.","fullyFundedDate":1746785838824,"projectUrl":"project/organized-and-equipped-tools-and-treats/9074757/","projectTitle":"Organized and Equipped: Tools and Treats for Engaged Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Arellano","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9588173_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720634737497","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9588173"},{"teacherId":8723451,"projectId":9186528,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our project! Because of your kindness, we received a wonderful set of foam ball's, which have added so much energy and excitement to our physical education activities. My students were absolutely thrilled when they first saw the new materials, several of them couldn't stop smiling and immediately began asking what games we'd be playing with them. The excitement in the room was contagious!\r\n\r\nSince receiving the equipment, we've used it in a variety of ways to get our bodies moving and practice teamwork, coordination, and good sportsmanship. From classic games like dodgeball to creative variations of tag and relay challenges, these foam balls have become a staple in our daily routines. One memorable moment was when students created their own team game using the balls, working together, strategizing, and cheering each other on. It was a great reminder of how movement can build community and joy in the classroom.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, I'll be teaching fifth grade next year and plan to continue using these materials to support our physical activity time. Recently, we used the clay to create pots, which was an exciting hands-on project for the students. They loved getting their hands messy and shaping their own unique creations. Along with the clay, the books and classroom supplies have enriched our learning environment. We also received prizes to put in our chest box, which serve as incentives for the students and motivate them to stay engaged and work hard.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their excitement was truly infectious especially for the clay, which quickly became a favorite. They were eager to dive into projects and try out the new supplies. Moving forward, we plan to build on this momentum by integrating the clay work into lessons on culture and history, exploring pottery traditions from around the world. These resources have opened up fresh opportunities for creativity and learning, and we can't wait to see where this journey takes us next.","fullyFundedDate":1742934546319,"projectUrl":"project/fuel-creativity-and-learning-support-su/9187632/","projectTitle":"Fuel Creativity and Learning: Support Supplies, Rewards, and Books!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Morales","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8723451_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1677646368716","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8723451"},{"teacherId":7140703,"projectId":9050151,"letterContent":"We cannot thank you enough!
