My students need books to meet all their needs. I have a leveled library to support 4th and 5th grade readers. This year I am fortunate to have the gifted class, however, my library is not meeting their needs. In my class, students focus on series of books and book clubs during Reader's Workshop. These methods of reading encourages students to support and motivate each other while holding their peers accountable for their progress. My students need to have higher level reading readily available for them. Our library has had little to no funding since re-opening two years ago and does not have current books students are interested in reading. With these books my classroom library will be a sophisticated source of reading for gifted students at our school.
