What started as a small way to celebrate the incredible growth of my 2024–2025 5th grade class grew into something even more meaningful. Thanks to your kindness, every 5th grader at our school—across all three classes—was able to receive a gift to mark their amazing achievements. These students faced countless challenges, many starting the year multiple grade levels behind, yet they showed up each day eager to learn. Together, they achieved 155% growth in reading and 95% in math. Your donation helped me recognize their resilience and give them something to carry forward with pride.\r\n\r\nThe impact didn't stop there. Due to changes in our school structure, we shifted from three 5th grade classes to just two, and I was moved to teach TK. As a farewell to my 5th graders, I gave each of them sunglasses—a small but meaningful gift to remember me by, as I'm known for always wearing mine outside. The pencils and refills you helped fund were also included to encourage their continued learning over the summer. Your support turned a difficult year for me personally into one filled with gratitude and connection, and I truly can't thank you enough for helping make this moment possible for my students.\r\n\r\nWith heartfelt appreciation.","fullyFundedDate":1746584872552,"projectUrl":"project/look-sharp-shine-bright-cool-tools-for/9306560/","projectTitle":"Look Sharp, Shine Bright: Cool Tools for Cool Kids","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. King","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7928055_orig.jpg?crop=352,352,x0,y39&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1627757360047","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7928055"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_30584","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":494,"numTeachers":23,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":9,"percentBlack":13,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":71,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"21.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":85.7,"schoolId":30584,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about William McKinley Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"William McKinley Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/long-beach-unified-school-district/william-mckinley-elementary-school/30584"}
