My school is located in a high poverty area in one of the largest urban school districts in the nation. There has been a cultural shift at our school where parents and students are beginning to trust the teachers and staff and are showing willingness to participate in their child's education. We have been provided the opportunity to transition to STEM through the Arts and have an uphill challenge with funding our new program. Our school has no PTA so all funding has to be provided through grants and amazing programs like Donors Choose. We are hopeful that once our programs are up and running, our community will come together and help fundraise for future supplies and equipment. My fourth grade students are amazing and and I couldn't be more honored to be their teacher.
