This project introduced them to a new type of technology beyond the smartphone cameras they're used to. They learned how to operate digital cameras, exploring features like focus, lighting, and memory cards—tools that real photographers use. It was a hands-on way to connect technology to storytelling and creativity, and it sparked a whole new level of engagement in the classroom.\r\n\r\nWhat excited the students most was realizing they could capture and manipulate a series of still photos to create moving stories. The process of setting up scenes, taking photos, and editing their movies gave them a deeper appreciation for both photography and digital storytelling. Several students became especially interested and have already signed up to join our school Yearbook team next year—something they hadn't considered before this project. Your donation didn't just give us equipment; it opened the door to new passions and possibilities.","fullyFundedDate":1738534884944,"projectUrl":"project/digital-cameras-for-digital-art/9086168/","projectTitle":"Digital Cameras for Digital Art","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bright","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9730848_orig.jpg?crop=2320,2320,x0,y69&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1725517553965","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9730848"},{"teacherId":8701441,"projectId":8821601,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donations that helped to provide these books. The students loved getting a chance to read them and choose their favorite. Two of the books were historical fiction this year, which is one of the students' favorite genres. The third book was realistic fiction that dealt with a school shooting, so it was very timely.\r\nThe historical fiction titles both dealt with timely issues as well - Japanese Internment Camps and Russia at the time of the Chernobyl disaster. Students enjoyed learning about these events through the eyes of kids their age. \r\nThank you again for your donation, as it allowed the students to take home a copy of the books that were their favorites.","fullyFundedDate":1728024809585,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-participate-in-the-20242025-cal/8821601/","projectTitle":"Help Us Participate in the 2024/2025 California Young Reader Medal!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Denton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8701441_orig.jpg?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695661116291","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8701441"},{"teacherId":9730848,"projectId":8740836,"letterContent":"I hope this message finds you well! I wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank you for your generous donation to my classroom through DonorsChoose. Your support has made a significant difference in the creative energy and artistic growth of my students.\r\n\r\nWith the new art supplies—markers, paper, paint, and more—my students have been able to explore their creativity in ways that were previously limited. They have been using these materials to create a variety of exciting art projects. Recently, we've been working on Notan art, which explores the balance of light and dark shapes, and oil pastel sugar skulls to celebrate Day of the Dead. We've also tackled two-point perspective cityscapes, which has allowed my students to dive deeper into understanding geometry and space in art.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new supplies, their faces lit up with excitement! They were thrilled to have such vibrant colors and quality materials to bring their artistic visions to life. It was such a special moment seeing them excited to try new techniques and challenge themselves in their artwork.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, the next step for my students is to apply the skills they've learned in these projects to create their own personal art pieces. We'll be exploring mixed media techniques, combining drawing, painting, and collage elements to express their individuality and creativity. Your donation has made all of this possible, and I truly appreciate your belief in my students and their artistic potential.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your generosity. It means the world to my students and me, and I can't wait to see where this journey takes them!","fullyFundedDate":1725739144258,"projectUrl":"project/art-supplies-galore-equip-our-creative/8740836/","projectTitle":"Art Supplies Galore: Equip Our Creative Classroom Adventure!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bright","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9730848_orig.jpg?crop=2320,2320,x0,y69&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1725517553965","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9730848"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_25704","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":411,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":24,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":62,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"18.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":82.8,"schoolId":25704,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Charles A Lindbergh STEM Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Charles A Lindbergh STEM Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/long-beach-unified-school-district/charles-lindbergh-middle-school/25704"}
