Because of your kindness, our students now have chair pockets, puzzles, lacing cards, and playdough that make a meaningful difference in our daily learning environment. Your donations are helping create a classroom that supports the unique needs of our students with autism and ADHD, especially when they need sensory integration breaks or opportunities to build fine motor skills.\r\n\r\nWe use the new resources throughout the day in both structured learning and sensory break times. One special moment happened during our small-group fine motor center. A student who usually struggles to stay engaged used the lacing cards to carefully thread the string through each hole. With encouragement, they completed the entire card and proudly showed it to the class. The puzzles have also become a favorite during transition times, helping students stay focused while practicing problem-solving and patience. The playdough has been wonderful for strengthening hand muscles while students roll, pinch, and shape letters or simple objects.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate. Many of them went straight to exploring the playdough and puzzles with big smiles. The chair pockets were also a huge hit because students now have their own special place to store their tools and sensory items. Having these personal spaces helps them feel organized and gives them a sense of ownership in the classroom.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are continuing to use these materials to support our current lessons on letter formation, counting, and cooperative play. Students are using playdough to form letters and numbers, while puzzles and lacing cards help strengthen the hand control they need for writing. The chair pockets are helping us build independence as students learn to manage their own materials and transition more smoothly between activities.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has given our students tools that support their learning, confidence, and joy in the classroom. Thank you for believing in them and helping create opportunities for growth every day.","fullyFundedDate":1763763006040,"projectUrl":"project/my-class/9548451/","projectTitle":"My Class","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Razo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8510880"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_39651","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":490,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":71,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":34,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":51,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"22.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":84.5,"schoolId":39651,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lakewood Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lakewood Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/lodi-unified-school-district/lakewood-elementary-school/39651"}
