Your generosity has made a powerful difference in our classroom environment. The calm tools—such as fidgets, sensory supports, and focus materials—are used daily during independent work time, note-taking, and assessments. In a Business Communication & Technology class where students are often reading complex texts, analyzing case studies, or working through multi-step projects, these tools have helped students regulate their focus and manage stress in productive ways. During a recent economics CFA, I noticed several students independently grab a calm tool before beginning their work. Instead of asking to leave the room or becoming distracted, they stayed seated and completed the assessment with noticeably improved concentration.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, students were curious and excited. I took time to model appropriate use and explain that these were tools—not toys—and that they were meant to support learning. Many students expressed appreciation right away. Some said it helped them feel less anxious during presentations, while others shared that having something small to keep their hands busy actually helped them pay better attention to instruction. It was encouraging to see students recognize what supports help them learn best and advocate for themselves appropriately.\r\n\r\nAs we move into our next unit, students will be working on a business pitch project that requires collaboration, public speaking, and sustained focus. The calm tools will continue to play an important role during planning sessions and presentation rehearsals. The new comfy cozy chairs have transformed a traditional business classroom into a space that feels welcoming, collaborative, and student-centered. I teach Business Communication & Technology, and we spend a lot of time working in teams, brainstorming ideas, and presenting projects. The chairs have become part of our \"collaboration corner,\" where students gather for small-group discussions, peer feedback sessions, and project planning meetings. During our recent unit on company culture, students used the cozy seating area to develop their Professional Playbook presentations. It was incredible to see students who don't normally volunteer choose to sit there and confidently share their ideas with their group.\r\n\r\nWhen the chairs arrived, my students were genuinely excited. They walked in and immediately noticed the change. Several of them said, \"It feels like a college classroom,\" and others commented that it felt more comfortable and less stressful. That may sound small, but for many of my students, school can feel rigid and overwhelming. Having flexible seating options gives them ownership of their learning environment. I've already noticed improved focus during independent work time and more productive conversations during collaborative activities.\r\n\r\nNext, we are moving into a project where students will design and pitch their own business concepts. The cozy seating area will serve as a planning and pitch-prep space where teams can rehearse presentations and give each other constructive feedback. The process of printing them, have intrigued my students so much that many of them would run to the printer to see what is printing next. I have also printed some fidget spinners to allow students to focus better in the classroom.\r\n\r\nThings have changed a lot in recent times. Students need more engagement and hands on examples. Cell Phones have really changed the mind-set of the students and things that used to work before for engagement, are obsolete now. We can continue down the same path we have been using, or catch up to modern day times and go with the flow. I have really learned to embrace the new technology that is out there and find that it does better connect with the youths.\r\n\r\nI hope to continue on this path of technology and hope it will continue to spark enthusiasm with the students. The second was our very first festival that all three performing ensembles had our own sets of mutes. \r\n\r\nStudents were definitely elated and glad to have our own set of mutes and no longer had to share and balance time with mutes with the other ensembles. Students were excited to learn and play with something new that most of them have not played with before because of lack of resources that their previous school didn't have either. For that reason, even the other students of the ensemble were happy to here the distinct metallic sound that is given by the mutes to portray a time period of music. \r\n\r\nFor the future, I am able to comfortable select musical repertoire without worry of not having mutes. Students arrive each day ready to learn, engage more actively in lessons, and participate with enthusiasm. One student shared, \"I don't have to worry about being hungry anymore, so I can actually focus on math and reading!\" Small changes, like having a healthy snack available, have made a big impact on both concentration and morale.\r\n\r\nOur students come from diverse backgrounds, and many face food insecurity at home. Students no longer feel embarrassed or anxious about being hungry, which allows them to fully participate in group activities, discussions, and independent work.\r\n\r\nThe snacks have also fostered a sense of community in the classroom. It's inspiring to see students thrive when their basic needs are supported.\r\n\r\nYour donation has allowed us to provide not just food, but dignity and opportunity.
