We use the notebooks during small group instruction to practice decoding strategies, build vocabulary, and respond to what we read. One memorable moment was watching students proudly record new words they had successfully decoded and illustrate their understanding of the story. It gave them a sense of ownership over their learning.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their excitement was contagious. They were eager to flip through the pages and start writing. For many of them, having their own special notebook made reading activities feel important and meaningful.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include continuing to build stronger reading skills by using the notebooks to track sight words, practice fluency, and write short responses to texts. These notebooks will become a place where students document their growth as readers throughout the year, and we are so grateful for the support that made this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1758820286728,"projectUrl":"project/interactive-notebooks/9634484/","projectTitle":"Interactive Notebooks","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Romero","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7495131_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1600228320446","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-janet-romero"},{"teacherId":7495131,"projectId":9494944,"letterContent":"My students are using the new resources to fully immerse themselves in the creative process. They created true masterpieces using the paints, brushes, aprons, easels, canvases, pencils, and drawing tools. We transformed our classroom into an art studio where students could explore color, texture, and technique while listening to music, sharing conversations with friends, and enjoying light snacks. The materials allowed students to express themselves freely and confidently while engaging in meaningful, hands-on learning.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their faces lit up with excitement and curiosity. Many immediately began asking questions and sharing ideas about what they wanted to create. There was a strong sense of joy and anticipation, and students felt valued and inspired knowing they had access to real art tools that supported their creativity.\r\n\r\nNext, students will reflect on their artwork and discuss their creative choices, techniques, and inspirations. They will continue building on these skills by exploring new art styles and collaborating on future projects. The resources you provided will remain an essential part of our classroom, helping students grow as artists, thinkers, and collaborators.
