I spend most of my time helping multilingual learners. The books and centers that were donated were used to support all the English learners in K-8th grade for when they take the ELPAC test that measures their growth in reading, writing, speaking and listening in English. They take this test year after year till they are reclassified as Fluent English Learners. Thanks to The Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation and all the other donations, I am confident that a large number of students will reclassify each year!\r\n Many of the items also helped to create a calming environment in my room. These resources help support both our academic learning and physical activity throughout the school day.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, my students were excited and grateful. They immediately began organizing their supplies and were eager to try the educational gameboards and classroom materials. The sports equipment also brought a lot of joy, giving students opportunities to stay active and work together during recess and physical activities.\r\n\r\nWe continue using these materials in our daily lessons. Students use the notebooks and pens to record their thinking, the whiteboard and markers for solving problems and sharing ideas, and the gameboards to practice skills in a fun and engaging way.
