Through your efforts, we were able to get enough books about diverse characters to introduce my kids to a different world. Through the literature studies, my kids learned how to empathize and feel for another person. They learned how to see from other perspectives and how they should be treating other people. \r\n\r\nIn addition to these powerful lessons in empathy, the students in my class also learned how to love a different kind of reading. The class is enamored with graphic novels and rarely do I see them choosing novels like the ones that were donated.
