Since introducing them, our students have truly taken off...capturing over 30,000 photos of yearbook coverage and extracurricular events so far this year! Their creativity, consistency, and willingness to take on new assignments have grown noticeably.\r\n\r\nStudents frequently share how \"amazing\" the lenses are, and we've seen a significant shift in their confidence. They are far less timid when photographing in crowded or high-energy environments, and many have begun pushing themselves to capture more dynamic and meaningful images. This growth has not only elevated the quality of our yearbook, but has also encouraged students to take greater ownership of their storytelling responsibilities.\r\n\r\nEach student is required to photograph at least two events per semester, and thanks to their increased enthusiasm and the improved tools, they have far exceeded our expectations and goals this year. Their pride in their work is clear, and it's been inspiring to watch their skills develop.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for supporting our students and aiding us in this tremendous progress. The hot chocolate you helped provide became an important part of the event—something students looked forward to and talked about throughout the day. After donating, students walked over to our \"comfort station,\" where leadership students greeted them with a cup of hot chocolate, snacks, and encouraging words. It helped donors feel appreciated and cared for in a moment when they truly needed it.\r\n\r\nOne of the best moments from the event was watching our first-time donors' reactions. Many were nervous going in, but their faces lit up when they saw the treat table and realized that we had prepared something special just for them. Those small comforts helped students feel supported, and many said the warm drink helped them feel grounded after donating. Several even shared that the experience made them want to donate again next year.\r\n\r\nYour donation also gave our leadership students a valuable lesson in service. They organized, set up, managed the station, and checked in on donors—learning how to coordinate a meaningful community event from start to finish. The success of this project has inspired them to continue planning supportive, student-centered events. Their next steps include preparing additional wellness and appreciation stations for future drives and community events, using the model created through your generosity.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible for our students and for helping us cultivate kindness, leadership, and community at Hoover.","fullyFundedDate":1732041626333,"projectUrl":"project/hot-chocolate-station-for-our-blood-driv/8945833/","projectTitle":"Hot Chocolate Station for our Blood Drive!","teacherDisplayName":"Mx. This event is more than just a dance! It is a safe, joyful, and affirming space where students can show up as their authentic selves. Having the right decorations, materials, and supplies allowed us to transform the venue into a welcoming environment that celebrated identity, inclusivity, and belonging. The atmosphere we created helped students feel seen, valued, and supported in a way that many described as empowering and unforgettable.\r\n\r\nThese supplies also strengthened student leadership in powerful ways. Our leadership students took charge of designing, planning, and setting up the event, and the quality materials allowed them to execute their vision with confidence and pride. They learned the importance of creating spaces that reflect the diversity of our district and the responsibility that comes with hosting events that honor the lived experiences of the LGBTQ+ community. The experience encouraged empathy, creativity, and collaboration, and it deepened their understanding of what inclusive leadership looks like.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, the dance had a lasting emotional impact on the students who attended. Many of them shared that this was the first school event where they truly felt like they belonged. The supplies helped us create a night that was uplifting, affirming, and filled with joy. This is a night that students will remember long after the decorations come down. Posters are one of the primary ways our students communicate with the school! Every event, rally, spirit week, announcement, appreciation effort, and community activity relies on clear visual messaging. Having consistent access to quality posters allows our students to create displays that truly capture attention and make information accessible to all students on campus. It elevates the professionalism of our work and helps our school stay connected and informed.\r\n\r\nThis project also supports the core of our program: empowering students to lead. When our students have the materials they need, they are able to design, collaborate, and take ownership of how our campus looks and feels. The posters they create become an extension of their creativity, their planning, and their pride in serving Hoover. It transforms blank walls into invitations, celebrations, and moments of school spirit.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, having a reliable supply of posters removes a huge barrier for students who often plan multiple events at once. Instead of worrying about materials or limiting their ideas, they're able to focus on their leadership skills.
