Students will use these books for independent reading inside and outside of the classroom. These diverse texts will give students the opportunity to explore new topics and create their own reading identity. Students will have the opportunity to choose any book that catches their eye from the plethora of options in their classroom library. Students need options if they are to discover a love for reading and to combat 'readicide'. A love for reading either starts in the classroom or dies in the classroom. With the help of my classroom library, I hope to create lifelong readers, build student literacy, and make my students believe their identities matter and that they are being represented.
