Because of your generous donation of legal-sized file folders and Sharpies, my students were able to create amazing portfolios of their work from the last two quarters! I will never forget the proud looks on their faces and the sounds of happiness as they talked about their favorite assignments from the year thus far. \r\n\r\nEach year, I have students choose their favorite lessons and create images on the front of their portfolios depicting those lessons. I have them organize their work in the folders by subjects of history and ELA and then share them with parents. I require that certain assignments be in the folders and a checklist and signature are required from a parent/guardian as another assignment to ensure that these portfolios are shared. It is a labor of love for me to save all their work for that amount of time for over 60 students. I had them work in groups to perform different scenes from a play about Gilgamesh. I teach ELA and Ancient History. I loved seeing the engagement, comradery, and inclusion of this activity. The layers of learning were amazing! Combining both subject matters is always a bonus.\r\n\r\nStudents worked together to create props, all students had speaking parts and all students listened as they took turns performing. I was able to see the pride that students had for getting in front of their classmates and performing what can be a very challenging topic to teach!
