My students have been overjoyed with their new speech therapy materials. For example, at the end of the school year in June I used our new imaginative play S'mores Kit by Melissa & Doug to target a variety of speech and language goals, including requesting, labeling, articulation of speech sounds, vocabulary development, asking/responding to questions, and following directions. I addressed these skills with TK-6th grade general education students, in addition to moderate-severe needs Special Day Class students. To make it extra special I brought in supplies for students to make real s'mores. Many of the children had never been camping or tried a tasty s'more, so this was a great opportunity to try new things and facilitate a language rich environment for their learning. The students loved it so much that on the first day of school this year they were already inquiring when they can play with the camping set and have s'mores again. Thanks to your donation we were able to create special memories and make meaningful progress towards their therapy goals.
