This project was one of my favorites. My students were overjoyed when they met their desk pet, the Squishmallows from this project. They have to take care of their Squishmallow and they have been using it as a fidget also. This helps them to regulate themselves by having a pet.\r\n We have used the larger Squishmallows as our talking piece during our morning circle. They love giving they the Squishmallow a hug and they know it is their turn to talk when they are holding it. They are able to keep their fidgets in their hands and keep them calm while self regulating.\r\n I have also put some of these items into the break area and they especially enjoy the robot fidget popper and small plush animals. My students have loved expressing their creativity with these amazing art supplies. The spirograph sets have been so popular. Being able to sharpen their colored pencils with this amazing new pencil sharpening has been very helpful. They especially enjoyed the Scentos Scented Pencils!\r\n They have taken such good care of the materials that we are still using them this school year. The owl pellets were a huge success. They were nervous at first because they thought it was gross but once they started to find the bones from the prey that the owls had eaten they were hooked. They then put the bones together to guess which animals the owls had eaten. This was such an impactful project for them.\n We used the rock tumbler many times and they loved observing the changes in the rocks over time. They shared some of the rocks with staff on campus and took some home to share with their families. We are currently collecting rocks to complete another project this year. \n The butterfly kit and the ant farm were also very loved by my class. They enjoyed watching the paths that the ants made and were fascinated by how they worked together. I will do this again this year. They loved watching the butterflies emerge from the chrysalis. The butterflies were beautiful. They wanted to keep them as puts but I convinced them to release them into nature. \n Thank you so much for provided these enriching, priceless opportunities.
