We will be able to use these all the time for so many different things. We watched a video on all the features binoculars have and how the adjustments work. So many wonderful materials were delivered. \r\n\r\nSince this is a new group of students, they are just learning about hydroponics. The charger block helped set up the center. They LOVE the machines. We have grown lettuce, thyme, cilantro and tomatoes so far. The students love eating the lettuce during the day. They take a leaf and eat it right there. No dressing! Just yummy as is. We have not tried the clay pebbles yet, but are excited to do so - lettuce or tomatoes is what we will try first. Plant food, grow sponges and tomato seeds helped replenish our supplies. \r\n\r\nYou also provided us with 60 earbuds for them to use with the ipads. Only 4 families provided earbuds or wireless headsets. The teacher provided each student earbuds in August and they have gotten lost, broken, etc. So to have that support from donors has helped tremendously. Students are using the book stand to hold up books and papers to photograph science and other STEM projects. The Picnic Time NFL Willow Basket Totes are wonderful for so many things. We have been using them to keep our plant seeds, collect our science/STEM books in, storing our hydroponics supplies, etc. The charger block gets used daily for a variety of devices. The animal sticker kit was a replacement item and they have been using that as a reward points system. The radish and arugula seeds for growing microgreens have been doing well. We have had 2 popcorn parties for good behavior and completing work on time. The students have read about and watched some experiments involving popcorn. One experiment was soaking the kernels for 5 minutes before popping, so there would be more moisture. We have some parent volunteers who said they would come in and help with some popcorn STEM activities. These materials have brought so much joy to the students. The floor has never been so clean. They were \"on it\" cleaning up everything to make sure they could do more experiments in the future. Listening to them and watching them use the seasonings has been a learning experience for the teacher. One popper uses a little oil and the other uses only hot air. The taste and health factors were charted and compared. One item was not available so we got a 2027 planning calendar. Also ------the hot water kettle is phenomenal! Water is boiling hot in 2 minutes. We used it to make some ice tea and ramen noodles. The team work, working with others in kind ways, coming up with strategies, excitement and pride when pieces are connected, etc. This has been a great STEM corner activity. We also have some highly emotionally unregulated students and students with special needs. They have been able to go take time away to calm down, focus, pick a partner to work with to build friendships, etc. I have not had time to build the second one - you need lots of hands, so the students have enjoyed helping me put it together. The fact that these 2 boards are on wheels is wonderful. Thank you for giving our classroom something great for perseverance, STEM, and mental health breaks.
