I'm a Resource Specialist working with students with special needs, such as learning disabilities, speech and language impairments, and autism. Small groups of students come to my classroom while my instructional aide assists students in their regular classrooms. We have over 1,200 students and about 50 teachers at our school. In my classroom, I primarily provide support to students in reading, writing, math, and behavior/social skills. I use a lot of visuals, such as pictures and videos, adapted materials, and hands-on activities to help students learn. With only 2 special education teachers at our site, we have to be efficient and effective with how we teach. My students face significant challenges and my goal is to do everything I can to support them to ensure they have a bright future. I encourage my students to read, problem-solve, and be independent thinkers. I appreciate everyone who helps on DonorsChoose.org!
