Students were immediately excited when they first saw the rewards, eagerly perusing the items they could earn through their effort, kindness, and perseverance. We use these resources to recognize positive behaviors such as revising challenging assignments, supporting classmates, and demonstrating a growth mindset. One of the most rewarding outcomes has been hearing students share how they use their prizes beyond the classroom such as engaging in self-care and healthy activities like going fishing or playing pickleball with friends. These moments reinforce for the whole class the connection between their hard work and positive, real-life experiences, and they often ask when the next opportunity to earn rewards will come.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our classroom continues to be a place where students feel valued, motivated, and excited to grow. Students continue to strive in their learning as we wrap up the year with To Kill a Mockingbird. They are engaged, reflective, and willing to take on challenges, knowing their efforts matter. Your contribution has not only provided tangible resources but has also helped build a culture of encouragement, resilience, and well-being that will continue to impact our students every day.","fullyFundedDate":1764694749120,"projectUrl":"project/motivating-minds-rewards-that-promote-j/9762454/","projectTitle":"Motivating Minds: Rewards that Promote Joy and Growth","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Peterson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8983893"},{"teacherId":8983893,"projectId":9293105,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my students now have the arts and craft supplies they needed to bring literature to life in a creative and meaningful way. We will soon be using these materials for a project inspired by To Kill a Mockingbird, where students will create a scrapbook from Scout Finch's perspective. With our arts and crafts supplies that you provided, students will illustrate important moments, write journal entries as Scout, design newspaper clippings, and add visual elements and keepsakes that represent key themes and events from the story. We are excited to begin interpreting the novel through art and writing and to bring the characters and setting to life.\r\n\r\nI believe this project will help students think more deeply about perspective, character development, and theme. Through this scrapbook project, students will step into Scout's shoes and consider how she would record and remember these experiences. I look forward to students demonstrating their knowledge through this creative process.\r\n\r\n Thank you for investing in our classroom and in my students' learning!","fullyFundedDate":1746472960419,"projectUrl":"project/building-creativity-and-confidence-throu/9293105/","projectTitle":"Building Creativity and Confidence Through Artistic Projects","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Peterson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8983893"},{"teacherId":8983893,"projectId":9100656,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, my students now have access to exciting new sports and outdoor recreation equipment of their own! These items have quickly become a favorite part of our classroom rewards system. When students demonstrate perseverance such as revising their work, helping others, or staying positive through challenges, they earn the chance to select rewards that promote movement and healthy fun. It's been wonderful to see them using the new equipment during breaks and after class to unwind, get active, and connect with their peers in positive ways.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their faces lit up with excitement. Many couldn't believe that these rewards were truly for them, earned through their own hard work and kindness. Basketballs, soccer balls, and fishing lures have been especially popular, and students have shared their joy in using these prizes with me . The atmosphere in our classroom has become even more encouraging and collaborative as students strive to reach their goals, not just for the rewards, but for the sense of accomplishment and community that comes with them.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, my students are continuing to build their growth mindset habits, reflecting on their progress, revising their work, and setting new goals. The addition of these healthy, engaging rewards has helped them see that learning perseverance and kindness leads to both personal growth and joyful experiences. They were drawn to the variety of books, stickers, and personal care items, and several students commented on how \"cool\" it was to have rewards that actually help them feel good and take care of themselves. Many were eager to learn how they could earn these items, and it was wonderful to see their enthusiasm for positive behavior and effort-based recognition.\r\n\r\nWe've already begun using the materials as part of our classroom growth mindset challenge. Students earn small prizes when they show persistence, help a peer, or demonstrate resilience during a tough lesson. These resources have helped create a more positive, encouraging classroom culture where students feel seen and valued. Moving forward, we will continue using these materials to celebrate achievements and support a growth mindset.
