One of our favorite classroom moments happened when students worked in small groups to build the dragon and the unicorn and then created a magical \"land\" for them to live in. Some students built mountains and caves for the dragon, while others made a colorful garden and castle for the unicorn. After building, the students used their imaginations to act out short stories about the dragon and unicorn becoming friends and going on adventures together. It was wonderful to see their creativity, teamwork, and storytelling skills come to life.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were absolutely thrilled! Many of them immediately recognized the dragon and unicorn and began sharing ideas about what they could build. There were lots of excited smiles and \"oohs\" and \"wows\" around the room. Some students carefully followed the building instructions, while others explored the pieces and talked with their friends about what they might create next. The excitement made the classroom feel full of energy and curiosity.\r\n\r\nNext, our students will continue using the dragon and unicorn sets as part of a storytelling and literacy lesson. After building their characters and settings, students will draw pictures and dictate short stories about the adventures their dragon and unicorn go on. We will also encourage them to design new habitats or friends for their characters using the LEGO pieces. These activities will help build creativity, language development, collaboration, and problem-solving skills while making learning fun and engaging.","fullyFundedDate":1769178041248,"projectUrl":"project/lego-creators/9988847/","projectTitle":"LEGO creators","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hernandez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10397765"},{"teacherId":10397765,"projectId":9985979,"letterContent":"The alphabet sound tubs have had an incredibly positive impact on my low-income kindergartners. We use them daily during our phonics and literacy centers. Each tub is organized by letter sound, and students explore real, hands-on objects that match the focus letter.\r\n\r\nTheir reaction was pure excitement. The moment I introduced the tubs, their eyes lit up. For many of my students, hands-on learning tools like these are not something they regularly have access to. They were eager to open the tubs, carefully examine each object, and share their discoveries with their classmates.\r\n\r\nAs we continue building foundational literacy skills, we are now moving into blending sounds to read simple CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words. The alphabet sound tubs are helping students strengthen their letter-sound recognition so they can confidently begin sounding out words like \"cat,\" \"dog,\" and \"sun.\"","fullyFundedDate":1768514401644,"projectUrl":"project/alphabet-sound-tubs/9985979/","projectTitle":"Alphabet Sound Tubs","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hernandez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10397765"},{"teacherId":10398564,"projectId":9989118,"letterContent":"The writing center has greatly supported my TK students by giving them daily opportunities to explore early writing in a meaningful and hands-on way. Students are excited as they develop fine motor skills, letter formation, and confidence as emerging writers through drawing, labeling, and creating. The center encourages creativity, language development, and independence while helping students understand that their ideas and voices matter. It has strengthened their readiness for kindergarten by fostering a love of writing and self-expression in a supportive learning environment.\r\nAs TK writers, my students are beginning to see themselves as authors and storytellers. They eagerly share their drawings, attempt to write letters and words, and proudly read their stories to classmates and teachers. The writing center empowers them to take risks, express their thoughts, and build early communication skills that lay the foundation for future academic success.","fullyFundedDate":1769178033321,"projectUrl":"project/building-early-writers-a-tabletop-writi/9989118/","projectTitle":"Building Early Writers: A Tabletop Writing Center for TK","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Davis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10398564_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768003605348","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10398564"},{"teacherId":9329365,"projectId":9950316,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of the Alphabet Tubs for our classroom. Your support has made a meaningful impact on my students and their learning.\r\n\r\nSince introducing the Alphabet Tubs, my students have become more engaged and excited about learning letters and sounds. The hands-on materials allow them to explore the alphabet in a fun, interactive way, which is especially important at the kindergarten level. They love sorting objects, making connections between letters and sounds, and practicing early phonics skills through play.\r\n\r\nI have already seen growth in their letter recognition, vocabulary, and confidence when participating in literacy activities. The tubs also encourage collaboration, as students enjoy working together and sharing their discoveries.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped create a more enriching and supportive learning environment for my students, and I am truly grateful.
