On behalf of my students and myself, I want to express our deepest gratitude for your generous support. Thanks to your kindness, we now have a library on campus.\r\n\r\nSome students on campus are excited because they know what a Little Library is and others are still unsure because they have never seen one; however both are positive experiences because it is exposing them to literature and a library. We have ran out of books several times and had to refill it. \r\n\r\nWith these resources, we have been able to build excitement around literature. For example, students visit the library often to check for new books and literature focused on monthly themes. \r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are excited to continue building on this push towards improving literacy. Our next steps include promoting the library, encouraging teachers to take their class to visit them, and finding a partner to help us replenish our libraries. Your generosity has truly opened new experiences for them and I am excited to see their relationships flourish. \r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your kindness and generosity. Your support not only empowers our mission but also reaffirms the importance of prioritizing mental health in our schools.\r\n\r\nThanks to your funding, I have provided tools and resources that are already making a significant difference in the lives of my high school students. I am pleased to share that all the materials and items funded by this initiative were delivered on time and without any issues, allowing us to begin utilizing them promptly. By funding my project, you helped my students achieve mental health goals, untangle emotions, and prepare them to learn, so they can reach their full potential.\r\n\r\nThe students have been particularly enthusiastic about the daily affirmations chart, which helps them start their day with positivity and self-confidence. The emotions wheel has become an invaluable resource for identifying and describing their feelings, fostering a deeper understanding of their emotions. Additionally, the anxiety balls have proven to be a simple yet highly effective tool for managing stress during sessions, giving students a tactile way to self-soothe and stay grounded.\r\n\r\nI also distributed anxiety strips to students so they could use them in their classrooms. These strips have been an effective tool for managing stress and staying calm throughout the day, offering students discreet support in their learning environments.\r\n\r\nPerhaps the most beloved addition to our sessions has been the weighted pet husky, affectionately named Mr. Winters by the students. All my students especially enjoy holding and hugging Mr. Winters, finding comfort in his soft, calming presence. He has quickly become a favorite, providing emotional support and a sense of security during moments of anxiety or stress.\r\n\r\nYour support has enabled us to create a safe and nurturing environment where mental health is a priority. These tools and resources are not just fostering emotional awareness and self-regulation but also building confidence and resilience among my students. We are deeply grateful for your belief in our vision and your commitment to mental health. \r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your generosity. Together, we are paving the way for a healthier, more compassionate future. I believe that all students deserve access to effective mental health services, and that means being there for them, physically and emotionally.","fullyFundedDate":1723594772476,"projectUrl":"project/elevating-our-mental-health/8646774/","projectTitle":"Elevating Our Mental Health","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Carrera","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9654087_orig.jpg?crop=1997,1997,x0,y119&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723867216030","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9654087"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_20754","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1924,"numTeachers":91,"percentFrplEligible":83,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":73,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"21.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":75.9,"schoolId":20754,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Leuzinger High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Leuzinger High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/centinela-valley-union-hsd/leuzinger-high-school/20754"}
