Because of your generosity, our classroom received new Rekenreks that have completely transformed how my students explore and understand math. Math in our room has become an active, hands-on experience where students physically move beads to build number sense, practice subitizing, and visualize addition and subtraction concepts.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new Rekenreks, their eyes lit up! They were eager to slide the red and white beads back and forth, turning abstract math problems into concrete visual groups. Using these tools allows us to bridge fundamental gaps in number sense, giving students a tactile way to break numbers apart into groups of fives and tens.\r\n\r\nWe are currently using the Rekenreks in daily small-group math centers and warm-up routines. Your support has given my students not just valuable learning tools, but genuine excitement and confidence in math!","fullyFundedDate":1717709833360,"projectUrl":"project/rekenreking-and-rocking-numbers/8435367/","projectTitle":"\"Rekenrek\"ing and Rocking Numbers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gerson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp396763_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1532895210009","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/vic-ger"},{"teacherId":396763,"projectId":10161314,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our project, \"To the Moon and Back, in Two Languages!\" Because of your generosity, our classroom received a wonderful new collection of bilingual books that has completely transformed our daily reading routine. Reading in our classroom is an interactive, joyous experience where students gather to explore new vocabulary, practice comprehension strategies, and build confidence in both English and their native languages.\r\n\r\nThese new texts allow us to explicitly teach key literacy skills—such as comparing sentence structures, using context clues, and identifying main ideas—while bridging language gaps. Having access to dual-language stories helps our emergent bilingual students draw connections between their native language and English, making abstract language concepts much easier to grasp.\r\n\r\nOur students have been thrilled to dive into these stories! English language learners who previously felt hesitant during independent reading now eagerly reach for these books, proudly reading aloud and sharing the illustrations with their peers. Your support has given our students not only valuable learning materials but also a deep sense of pride in their language abilities.","fullyFundedDate":1777995960679,"projectUrl":"project/to-the-moon-and-back-in-two-languages/10161314/","projectTitle":"To the Moon and Back, in Two Languages!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gerson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp396763_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1532895210009","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/vic-ger"},{"teacherId":1402455,"projectId":9875294,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous contributions to our project, Little Ears, Big Learning! Your selfless support of public education has made a meaningful difference in our classroom, and we are incredibly grateful for your kindness and belief in our students. Because of you, our learners have resources that truly support their success and confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen the headphones arrived, the excitement was immediate and contagious. The students were thrilled to see all the bright, colorful options and loved being able to choose their favorite colors. They use their headphones during computer time. This includes weekly digital math lessons as well as language arts time, where they practice foundational skills in the Spanish language they are learning and building their reading fluency.\r\n\r\nWhat has changed most is their level of focus and engagement. Students no longer have to struggle to tune out the surrounding noise from other computers, allowing them to fully concentrate on their learning.\r\n\r\nAs a teacher, I have seen a remarkable transformation. What use to be a noisy, distracting computer time has become a calmer, more relaxed, and productive part of our day. Your generosity has created a more peaceful learning environment where students can strive, and for that, I am deeply thankful.
