They were so proud and determined as they talked about playing in middle school next year.\r\n\r\nWe are using these resources every day during recess, and they have already made a huge impact. Students are collaborating more, resolving conflicts more independently, and showing strong sportsmanship. These games have become a space where students build friendships, develop leadership skills, and gain confidence. It has also helped students return to the classroom more focused and ready to learn after having a positive outlet for movement and energy.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we will continue using this equipment to support both physical activity and social-emotional growth. I also plan to incorporate more structured team-building activities during class time, using the equipment to reinforce communication, teamwork, and goal-setting skills. We've been using the snacks and treats in two important ways: to support students during long assessment periods and as part of our weekly group-based raffle system that promotes teamwork, responsibility, and positive behavior.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the prize drawer stocked with snacks and treats, their excitement was immediate, but what mattered most was how quickly that excitement turned into motivation. Students began encouraging one another to stay on task, reminding teammates to make good choices, and celebrating group success. The raffle system has truly strengthened our classroom community and given students a positive reason to work together.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, students are learning that effort, teamwork, and perseverance matter. As we move forward, students will continue preparing for upcoming state testing while also working on collaborative projects and daily lessons that build academic confidence. The students were thrilled to use \"real\" tools to do meaningful, serious work.\r\n\r\nWe began with a lesson on tool safety and then got to work. The saw is now used every day. Students first drew pictures on cardboard to create gifts for one another. My students and I have already begun using the new resources in meaningful ways, and the impact has been immediate. We recently began our science unit on stars, and the space-themed paper lanterns (our \"planets\") are now hanging from the ceiling. The students reference them constantly during discussions about distance, scale, and characteristics of celestial objects. These lanterns have helped make our classroom feel like an immersive learning environment—one where students walk in and instantly feel curious and excited. We have also started our math unit on fractions, and the fraction/decimal/percent flip chart and the math posters have already become essential visual supports. During lessons, students compare the different representations—pie models, fraction form, and decimal equivalents—and it has strengthened their ability to make connections. The biggest classroom hit so far has been the fractions and decimals Bingo game. My students beg to play! It has turned what can be an abstract concept into a fun, high-energy routine that improves mastery through play. Watching students eagerly check their boards and explain their thinking to peers has been such a joy.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate. The colorful floor cushions were the first thing they noticed, and students use them every day during small-group instruction and independent work. They love having the option to sit comfortably and choose a workspace that helps them focus. When they looked up and saw the planet lanterns, the class erupted with \"oooohs\" and \"ahhhhs.\" It sparked so many questions about the solar system before we even started our unit. Our noise-canceling headphones have also become a daily support for students who need a quiet space to concentrate. For those learners, these headphones have made a noticeable difference in their ability to stay engaged and confident. The fraction flip chart has been especially helpful for visual learners—they love being able to quickly flip to the model that helps them understand a problem, whether it's a fraction circle, a number line, or a decimal representation.\r\n\r\nWe are continuing our exploration of stars in science and deepening our understanding of fractions in math. The manipulatives, visuals, calculators, and flexible seating will continue to support students as concepts get more complex. I have noticed a lot less wandering during the day and a lot more bobbing heads because they are using the bands on their chairs!\r\n\r\nEven though we weren't able to get the butterflies, we were able to get beakers! We lucked out. During our first lab, we accidentally broke 5 which was a sad day for a science teacher. This would have been detrimental to learning if we had not received your replacements the following week! \r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, our classroom feels more equipped, more dynamic, and more welcoming to every learner.
