What you purchased made a huge difference! Your gifts have brought so much excitement and improved how my students learn every single day.\r\n\r\nThe colored paper alone has turned regular classroom activities into something special. The second the kids see those vibrant colors, they get instantly curious and excited about what we're going to use them for. For example, when we create our visual study guides, using different colors brings an extra burst of focus and real joy to work that used to feel a bit dull.\r\n\r\nThe colored pens are also a lifesaver. Honestly, a lot of our students don't bring their own pens, and the ones who do get tired of lending them out. Now, everyone has what they need! Using the pens helps the students focus better on their tasks and actually boosts their creativity. Even though we can't use them all the time, they really cherish the opportunities they get.\r\n\r\nFinally, the reusable dry-erase sleeves and the paper shredder are huge wins. The sleeves have been a game changer for prep—I can quickly tweak notes for one class, wipe them clean, and have them ready for the next group. It saves a ton of wasted paper. And the paper shredder is essential for keeping my students' private information safe and secure.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for caring about our classroom. The technology you helped provide has truly taken my students' learning to the next level. This technology allows them to practice communication skills, strengthen collaboration, and think critically about how to share history with an audience.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for my students has been the chance to hear their own voices and ideas come alive in a polished, professional format. They love experimenting with scripts, sound, and delivery—it makes the history feel more real and personal to them.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular, who is usually quiet in class discussions, has especially warmed to podcasting. This technology has quickly become a centerpiece of our learning environment. Unlike at home, where a frame might just cycle through family photos, in our classroom it serves as a constantly changing showcase of student work—samurai manuals, infographics, creative maps, and more. It allows students to see their learning celebrated in real time and provides visual models for their peers to draw inspiration from.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for my students has been seeing their own projects displayed for everyone to admire. The pride and joy on their faces when their work appears on the screen has been incredible—it validates their effort and motivates them to continue pushing themselves creatively.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular, who usually prefers to keep his work private, has really warmed to this technology. When he saw his infographic displayed, he lit up and immediately called over classmates to share his ideas. The frame gave him the confidence to take ownership of his learning in a way I hadn't seen before.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our classroom now has a vibrant and meaningful way to celebrate achievement, inspire collaboration, and make learning visible. We recently completed a unit on feudalism, and the supplies allowed students to design colorful diagrams and create scenes for their feudalism readers theater performance. Having the right tools encouraged them to take pride in their work and showcase their creativity.\r\n\r\nWhen the supplies first arrived, the students were thrilled. Many of them immediately began experimenting with the markers and colored pencils, excited to add detail and vibrancy to their projects. For some, it was the first time they had access to high-quality materials of their own, and the sense of ownership was empowering.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, my students will use these materials to support other creative assignments, including building visual timelines and crafting maps of medieval Europe. I wanted to take a moment to share the incredible impact your generous donation has had on my students and our classroom community. The new half-circle table has completely transformed the way we support our learners, particularly our students with IEPs who benefit from more individualized attention.\r\n\r\nWhen the table first arrived, my students were immediately curious and excited. I vividly remember one student exclaiming, \"Wow! Is this our new learning station?\" That moment of excitement was just the beginning. Since then, my teaching assistant has used the table to provide one-on-one support to students who need extra guidance. Having a designated space for these sessions has made a world of difference. One of our recent projects involved creating a historical fiction podcast about daily life in Tenochtitlan. Students gathered around the half-circle table to brainstorm ideas, work on their scripts, and practice their recordings. My TA was able to sit with individual students who required additional support with their writing, helping them organize their thoughts and build their confidence. This project, which might have felt overwhelming without the right setup, became manageable and engaging thanks to the new table.\r\n\r\nThe table has also become a hub for small-group instruction. Whether we're analyzing primary sources or discussing the social structure of ancient civilizations, the space fosters focused, efficient learning. It provides a comfortable and structured environment where every student feels seen and supported.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we're excited to continue using this table for more collaborative projects. Our next big assignment is a project focusing on belief systems and their influence on societies. Students will work in groups to research, discuss, and present their findings on how different belief systems have shaped various societies throughout history. I can already see how this table will help facilitate these group discussions and offer a space for individualized feedback.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for your generosity. You haven't just given us furniture; you've given us a tool that enhances learning, supports our most vulnerable students, and brings our classroom community together in new and exciting ways.","fullyFundedDate":1730401533660,"projectUrl":"project/furnishing-the-future-help-us-build-an/8891290/","projectTitle":"Furnishing the Future: Help Us Build an Engaging Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Deloera","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7679244_orig.jpg?crop=874,874,x0,y20&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1651437526516","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7679244"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_98719","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":325,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":50,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":16,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":64,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Weighted Average","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":72.9,"schoolId":98719,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Literacy First Charter School - Junior Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Literacy First Charter School - Junior Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/california-department-of-education/literacy-first-charter-school-junior-academy/98719"}
