This has helped spark student curiosity, build vocabulary, and help them understand where famous landmarks and animals are located in the world. \r\n\r\nI have also been able to use our printer to print out shout outs, and \"happy mail\" for to students to share with their families. It seems like small things, but these small things make a big impact. My students loved our new stories. They especially liked the story about the watermelon who was not round and yet found a way to embrace that he was different. They thought it was hilarious to hear that there are in fact square watermelons in Japan. This is what makes literature come alive. I can't wait to read the other stories.\r\n\r\nOur vacuum has been essential. Even though the night janitor vacuums our room every other night, it still gets messy. The kids beg to be the one who gets to use the vacuum each day because we spend a few minutes before we go home tidying up our classroom to make it a welcoming space the next day. \r\n\r\nThe microwave saved me so much time yesterday as I usually have to give up my lunch time to pop the popcorn for any celebrations. This time I could pop a bag in as the students finished their work. We were able to enjoy our popcorn party, and I was able to enjoy my lunch! \r\n\r\nLastly, the snacks have been a big hit! I think the fruit chews and the goldfish have been the favorites.
