I want students to have the option to read about interesting protagonists! These historical fiction books bring California and U.S. history to life. Presenting a female lead and introducing humor into the American Revolution makes my students smile, and learn. Students will have the opportunity to read independently, read in groups and fall in love with learning. Students will also do project-based learning to demonstrate their mastery of both the novels and the specific eras presented. Excited students are in charge of their learning, presenting their knowledge, and figuring out the role the past plays in their lives.
