These boxes were then donated to our local food bank and family resource center for those in need. This means so much to our students. \r\n\r\nOur school is a small charter school with about 200 students. Some of these students come from disadvantaged backgrounds and we utilize all our community resources to help provide them with necessities such as undergarments, which was what I requested from Donors choose. Here at Hearthstone we have so many little resources we can help our students such as our food pantry and our clothing closet. This consists of various clothing and footwear. Unfortunately, we were lacking new undergarments. \r\n\r\nThese items are essential in our everyday life and unfortunately some of our students do not have this luxury. By providing them with these items we can guarantee they do now. In case of an accident at school or just by letting them know we have new extra undergarments will definitely brighten some of our students' days. Students usually seek out myself or another adult they feel safe and request to \"shop\" at our clothing closet. I am excited that they can now obtain these items.","fullyFundedDate":1768701328647,"projectUrl":"project/clothing-closet/9747662/","projectTitle":"Clothing Closet","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bris","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9972220"},{"teacherId":10418502,"projectId":10059010,"letterContent":"This project truly impacted our students in a special way! As items began arriving, all the kids from elementary to middle school grades instantly responded and began playing. They all look so forward to recess even more, getting to use activities and equipment that they have never had access to in the past. \r\n\r\nA big highlight has been the stomp rockets. The kids have learned to form lines and take turns launching rockets across the grass and then racing to retrieve them. It's taught them cooperation and is a great physical activity. But the best part is that it's so much fun!\r\n\r\nAnother highlight is the new jump ropes which have been a staple for the concrete area, working together to help new ones learn how to jump and swing the rope in unison. \r\n\r\nI can't forget about the stepping stones! We have them out almost every lunch and all the kids absolutely love them. They all work together to set up an obstacle course and challenge each other to go across without falling. It has been so engaging and entertaining, but also challenges their creativity and imagination!\r\n\r\nThese are just a few highlights, but everything that was purchased has brought new excitement and fun to every recess here and we all cannot thank you enough!!","fullyFundedDate":1769415276769,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-make-recess-fun/10059010/","projectTitle":"Help Us Make Recess Fun!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Scott","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10418502"},{"teacherId":236635,"projectId":10066718,"letterContent":"We are tracking the weather here at Hearthstone! \r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived--so many boxes--the students were amazed that someone would \"just give us\" such a generous gift. Unboxing the supplies brought gasps and squeals as well as an air of excitement and sense of curiosity. \r\n\r\nSince we serve students from TK through twelfth grade, your generosity purchased supplies for a wide variety of students. Our kindergarten class is using the bold and colorful cutouts to learn about the water cycle; our upper elementary students are exploring the data coming in from the weather station, and our advanced high school students will compile and analyze the data to make predictions for water usage in our school green space and garden.\r\n\r\nI plan to integrate student-collected temperature, wind, and rainfall data into my Living Earth course next year. We had heard about a book tasting a few months ago, and decided to try to have our own. You have no idea how special your donation made this event! We turned our little library into a cafe setting, with dimmed lights, cafe music, flowers and donated Starbucks snacks. We made it special with invitations, and they dressed to impress! Many came in with their favorite dresses on, and some of our boys even wore bowties. Each table was a different genre, filled with brand new books that our kids had never read.\r\n\r\nThe \"menu\" was a grade appropriate questionnaire for them to fill out about each book they sampled at each table. The kids absolutely loved it. Not only did many of them learn what genre they were drawn the most to, but many walked out with a brand new book checked out to read. We saw that several of our kids that were not too interested in reading prior, were super excited about checking a new book out and taking it back to class. Our TK-5th graders all had such a wonderful time. Your thoughtful gift of new books is a wonderful and much needed addition to our collection. \r\n\r\n It was so much fun to have so many new and pretty books to add to our library. Once we received them, we immediately unboxed them, labeled them and got them all put on the shelves. Each of our grade groups (TK all the way to twelfth grade) had something new to explore. Our littles got new hardcover books with beautiful vibrant pictures. Our third through fifth graders received new volumes to their much loved series of comics. Our seventh through twelfth graders got the coolest new novels that are out. We seriously had so many happy kids. \r\n\r\n It was kind of amazing to see them come in and instantly see the new books on the shelves, their eyes went right to all the new ones.
