From the moment the players saw the new pitching mound, ball caddy, and coach's bucket organizer, they were excited and eager to put everything to use. The new equipment immediately brought a more professional feel to our practices and helped students feel proud and motivated to improve their skills.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest impacts has been during our pitching and fielding practices. The portable pitching mound has allowed our pitchers to safely work on mechanics, balance, and confidence during bullpen sessions, while the ball caddy keeps drills moving quickly so every player gets more repetitions and opportunities to improve. Students have become more focused and engaged during practice because they are able to spend more time actively participating instead of waiting for equipment to be set up or collected. It has also helped strengthen teamwork and communication as players encourage and support one another during drills.\r\n\r\nYour support is helping our athletes grow not only as baseball players, but also as leaders and teammates. As we continue through the season, our next steps include building stronger game situations during practice, improving player confidence, and helping students develop discipline, responsibility, and perseverance through athletics. Thank you for believing in our students and investing in their success both on and off the field. Your kindness truly made a difference for our SCIA baseball family.","fullyFundedDate":1778017021711,"projectUrl":"project/step-up-to-the-plate-essential-baseball/10170627/","projectTitle":"Step Up to the Plate: Essential Baseball Gear","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Goodin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5097307_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1516392989676","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5097307"},{"teacherId":5097307,"projectId":10102877,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, our 6th grade students were able to fully experience our Lunar New Year kite project—an interdisciplinary journey connecting History, Design, and Physical Education while learning about traditions celebrated in China and around the world.\r\n\r\nWhen the kite materials first arrived, the excitement in the classroom was immediate. Students were eager to open the kits, examine the durable nylon kites, and begin brainstorming their designs. Many students instantly started sharing ideas about dragons, zodiac animals, and bold red color schemes they had learned about in History. It was a moment filled with curiosity, creativity, and genuine enthusiasm for learning.\r\n\r\nWe used these resources by first diving into research, where students explored the meaning behind Lunar New Year symbols. Then, in Design class, they carefully planned and painted their kites, applying both creativity and cultural understanding. Finally, in PE, students assembled and flew their kites—bringing their learning to life in a powerful and memorable way. Watching students run across the field, seeing their own designs take flight, was a moment they will not forget.\r\n\r\nYour support has not only provided materials but has created an experience. Students were proud of their work, excited to share their designs, and deeply engaged throughout the entire process.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue reflecting on their designs and learning. They will evaluate what worked, what they would improve, and how their creations respectfully represented Lunar New Year traditions. We also plan to extend this learning by connecting to other cultural celebrations and design challenges, helping students continue to grow as creative and thoughtful global learners.\r\n\r\nThank you again for giving our students this incredible opportunity. Your generosity truly made an impact in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1774053687877,"projectUrl":"project/is-the-sky-the-limit/10102877/","projectTitle":"Is The Sky The Limit?","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Goodin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5097307_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1516392989676","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5097307"},{"teacherId":5097307,"projectId":10084041,"letterContent":"Thank you for bringing our project, \"If You Build It, Students Will Come,\" to life through DonorsChoose. When the electric cardboard cutters arrived, the excitement in the room was immediate—students were eager, curious, and ready to create. Within the first week, we launched a prototype challenge where students designed and built small-scale architectural models using recycled cardboard. What used to take an entire class period just to cut materials was done in minutes, allowing students to focus on refining their ideas, improving structural integrity, and testing multiple design iterations. The precision of the cutters has elevated the quality of their work and given them a sense of pride in their final products.\r\n\r\nThese tools have transformed how we learn. Students are now experimenting with more complex designs, combining materials like cardboard and fabric, and thinking more deeply about function, sustainability, and user needs. One student shared, \"It feels like we're real engineers now,\" which perfectly captures the shift in confidence and mindset. The ability to safely and efficiently repurpose materials—like shipping boxes—has also strengthened our conversations around environmental responsibility and sustainable design.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, students will continue building on these skills through a multi-step design project where they will identify a real-world problem, develop prototypes, test solutions, and present their final products. Because of your generosity, they now have the tools to iterate quickly, think creatively, and bring their ideas to life with accuracy and professionalism. You have not only improved efficiency in our classroom—you have empowered a generation of thinkers, designers, and problem-solvers.","fullyFundedDate":1771391103602,"projectUrl":"project/if-you-build-it-students-will-come/10084041/","projectTitle":"If you Build it, Students Will Come","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Goodin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5097307_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1516392989676","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5097307"},{"teacherId":10411538,"projectId":10041769,"letterContent":"Thank you for the beautiful new books! The variety of books has helped students find stories that interest them, which has built their motivation and confidence as readers. This printer has already made a big impact on how our students learn and engage in the classroom. Having access to high-quality color printing allows us to create clear, visual supports that are essential for our special education students. We've used it to print labels for bins, binders, and cabinets so supplies are easy to find and return, helping students build independence, stay organized, and feel more confident in their space.\r\n\r\nWhat excites our students most is seeing their work printed in bright, professional-quality color. We created a large classroom schedule in our school colors that is now clearly visible every day, helping students track time, understand routines, and transition more smoothly throughout the day. The printer has also been a huge part of our school-wide I.B. community project. We printed photos of our students volunteering in the community, which truly brought our showcase to life. Seeing themselves represented made our students feel proud, valued, and connected to their community.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially warmed to this new technology, particularly those who benefit from visual learning and structure. Students who previously struggled with organization or anxiety around routines are now more engaged and independent because visuals are clear, consistent, and accessible. We are so excited to continue using the HP Smart Tank 600 printer for future creative and academic projects. The adjustable batting tees have been especially helpful, as they allow students of all skill levels to focus on proper technique, coordination, and improvement at their own pace.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include using these tools during skill-building stations, goal-setting activities, and team practices where students can track their progress and reflect on their growth.
