I have received a lot of feedback from my student's families that it was a huge relief to not have to worry about buying back to school supplies this year. Not only did your kindness relieve parents of the financial burden of school supplies, which sometimes can reach $75, but it saved them a tremendous amount of time and a huge headache not having face the crowds of the local stores trying to find a specific item. School supply shopping in our town is crazy!\r\n\r\nOn the first day of school each student was provided with a pencil box labeled with their name. Inside the pencil box your donation provided each student with the following: a dry erase marker, dry erase eraser, a pair of scissors, black flair pen, black sharpie marker, and polymer erasers. Additionally, their desk was stocked with their purple homework folders that they use to transport their work back and forth and a yellow folder that they use for Social Studies. Also included were spiral notebooks for both Math and Writing, and boy have we used those so much in the 6 weeks that we have been in school!\r\n\r\nThank you again for your donation and contribution to the success of my students and our fifth grade classroom. I am so grateful for you and your heart to support my sweet class of scholars! My class was beyond excited when the box came with these supplies. They cheered as I brought each item out and explained how we were going to use them this school year. They especially loved the fluffy erasers! \r\n\r\nSo far this school year we have used them for Writing, Math, 2nd Step Social Emotional Lessons, and Spelling. \r\n\r\nIn Writing we used the whiteboards for brainstorming our ideas. In Math we have used them to do various Rounding problems for our Topic 1 Numbers Unit. For 2nd Step we used them in a Growth Mindset Lesson. The lesson had them write their name with their normal hand and then write their name with their non-dominant hand. Through this they realized how our brains create networks. A strong network is created by practicing something many times for proficiency. A new network is created when you try and often fail. This helps our brains to grow. In Spelling they used their boards to practice our weekly spelling words. \r\n\r\nWhat's next? We can't wait to brainstorm about this month's character trait-Responsibility! We will also be using our materials in our first Science unit-What is Water?! \r\n\r\nThank you again for loving on my class through your generous gift!","fullyFundedDate":1746453318817,"projectUrl":"project/authors-in-the-making/9214447/","projectTitle":"Authors in the Making","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Martin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4535942_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1499846721557","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4535942"},{"teacherId":3625681,"projectId":9185573,"letterContent":"I simply cannot thank you enough for your generous donations! Students are given a book and the number of pages to read each week is chunked up so that each book club finishes at the same time.
