My students will be given the opportunity to experience engaging nonfiction texts that correlate with Black History Month. These books celebrate significant black Americans and their accomplishments. 4th graders will be able to pick books they can read independently based on ability and interest. Texts that celebrate the accomplishments of Black Americans will encourage my diverse learners to celebrate the achievements and feats of important Black figures in American history. Additionally, the emphasis on nonfiction texts encourages deeper thinking and assists in developing stronger readers. These books will support at-home learning.
