They actively participated in unpacking and organizing the snacks, showing enthusiasm for the new snacks. I was surprised and delighted that most of the students read the nutrition information on the package before they ate the food, and even researched how different ingredients affect mood and focus. \r\n I observed first hand, students who are more introverted or normally to themselves participating in social interactions during snack breaks. Also, the energy level changed, making learning engaging and increasing curiosity in the lesson.","fullyFundedDate":1677083666411,"projectUrl":"project/teacher-synergy/7178022/","projectTitle":"Teacher Synergy","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Stewart","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5988786"},{"teacherId":9226752,"projectId":8926150,"letterContent":"Your gifts have been a great addition to our classroom. Thank you so much for providing these items that my students have been using in the classroom almost daily. They have been a wonderful addition to our classroom environment. The items you donated to our classroom have become a calming resource when students are stressed, upset, or overwhelmed. Students are able to center themselves and express their feelings in the classroom when they are in need. My students who are creative beings have really enjoyed having the space and time during class to color and draw. My students who do not identify as being creatives, have become more open to coloring and doodling when they have finished their work or just need some down time. \r\nWhen the items arrived and the singing bowl was placed on the student desk, students were curious about the singing bowl. Students were very interested in learning how to make the bowl sing. Some of my students with difficulties with attention and focus, they have really enjoyed learning how to use the singing bowl correctly. \r\nAs this school year comes to an end, I hope to maintain this space in my classroom for next year's incoming 9th grade students since it has been such a great addition to the classroom. \r\nThank you for your support and generosity in public education and students in special education. Thank you for noticing the work being done in the classroom and supporting their future.","fullyFundedDate":1739888136183,"projectUrl":"project/mental-health-for-high-school-students-w/8926150/","projectTitle":"Mental Health for High School students with IEPs","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Augusta","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9226752"},{"teacherId":9749603,"projectId":8781595,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donations, our room has been completely transformed. Their excitement and engagement, I've seen since the materials arrived, have been nothing short of inspiring. From the moment they walked in and saw the new materials—the bean bag chair, rug, figit toys, and journaling supplies—their eyes lit up. One student said, \"I love the coziness of our new room, which makes me feel at home!\"\r\n\r\nHigh school is a pivotal time in students' lives, marked by academic pressures, social challenges, and a host of other stressors. My new space is now a dedicated space—\"The Sanctuary for Student Success\" supports our students' social-emotional well-being, academic success, and basic needs. This space serves as a calming retreat where students can manage stress, find support, and recharge. \r\n\r\nYour generous donations of materials are providing students with a new sense of being valued, and we are so grateful for transforming our space!","fullyFundedDate":1736980932559,"projectUrl":"project/a-retreat-for-student-success/8781595/","projectTitle":"A Retreat for Student Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Noria Williams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9749603_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726607134046","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/noria-williams"},{"teacherId":1543178,"projectId":8917327,"letterContent":"I chose to put this thank you package together today because I am feeling immense gratitude for the gift of teaching my high school students who struggle with reading every single day. In the Literacy Center, we have built community around challenge and perseverance. As my students gain confidence in reading, they often articulate the emotional toll that they have endured from years of trying to hide and manage their dyslexia or language-based learning disabilities. Students speak openly about their struggle with reading and the shame that it has brought them. Yet, we are rewriting the narrative together. Each time a student decodes a word that they don't recognize or reads a sentence fluidly without pause is cause for celebration in the Literacy Center. Whether students are working with me on a lesson or just stopping by for a quick check in, a snack, or to shoot a mini hoop, the joy and community we have created in this space is apparent. \r\n\r\nMy students are dedicated to building their skills and they have shown immense growth from tiny wins when decoding at the word level to huge wins like finishing a class novel and participating actively in a Socratic seminar. Today, I assessed a graduating senior who, over the course of 2 years of hard work in the Literacy Center, has increased her speed of reading from 51 correct words a minute with 86% accuracy to 82 correct words per minute with 96% accuracy. In addition, she increased her accuracy in word reading in every category assessed. Her growth in reading is no small feat and we are proud of her!\r\n\r\nI am thankful for your support and for the opportunity to build a Literacy Center where my students feel seen and understood in their struggles and their triumphs with reading.","fullyFundedDate":1736961883693,"projectUrl":"project/high-school-literacy-center-positive-im/8917327/","projectTitle":"High School Literacy Center: Positive Impact on Students' Mental Health","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rachel's Literacy Center","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1543178_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y40&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1730648190913","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1543178"},{"teacherId":4780784,"projectId":8917330,"letterContent":"I can't say enough about the materials that my students receive! I work with high school students who are generally skeptical of new things. But when they saw what was purchased, they were extremely enthusiastic. For example, they quickly found that some of the felt pens could write on windows and immediately decorated my office door window. \r\nI had multiple offers of assistance when the chairs arrived and two dedicated students stayed afterschool to put the chairs together. These chairs were the highlight of our supplies! The chairs are wonderfully comfortable and the material on the outside is incredibly soft. Many students have come by to admire the chairs and have even moved them around my office until we found the best spot. These chairs are rarely empty. \r\n\r\nI was so lucky to have had my project funded and I am eternally grateful for all that we were gifted with.","fullyFundedDate":1732718075654,"projectUrl":"project/social-emotional-supports-for-teens/8917330/","projectTitle":"Social-Emotional Supports for Teens","teacherDisplayName":"Teacher Jacobs","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4780784"},{"teacherId":5948190,"projectId":8917000,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting my grant to support mental health for high school students with disabilities. Because of this, we have a tea/hot cocoa/oatmeal station in my classroom that students can access at any time.
