My 160 students are passionate and hardworking. They choose to take photography because they love a challenge. They want to express to others how they see the world and want to share their opinions about important issues. They are visual thinkers who want to know more about the medium, photography and how they can best use it to make their voices heard. Our school is a comprehensive public high school whose funding has seen a huge reduction in recent years due to budget cuts at the local and state level. Unfortunately, the arts are often one of the first things to be cut, which directly impacts my students. Even though the money isn't there, my students still want to take photography and do their best to share our limited resources.
