The students have been eagerly working on our open house projects, especially the constellations. Each student chose a constellation and used white colored pencil on black construction paper to create their own constellation design. These lights will truly illuminate our stars.\r\n\r\nWhen I entered with the box, the students were excited for the \"unboxing\" of the lights. We took them out one by one, plugged them in, and shined them on different walls in our classroom featuring various work samples to see how they lit up our work.\r\n\r\nThe timing of the materials' arrival was perfect, as the weather did not allow for outdoor recess. We set up the lights and used small rubber balls to play \"spaceballs\" inside of our classroom. All the students sat on their desks, tossing the balls to each other. If they missed, they had to sit down until everyone was seated. Then, they stood up and played again. They had so much fun playing inside for recess.\r\n\r\nOur next steps in science will involve exploring chemical reactions and mixtures. The students will grow crystals in various shaped and colors, and I am excited to see how they will look under the black light as well. I also hope to teach my students to play pickleball during P.E. This donation has truly enriched our learning experience, and we are incredibly thankful for it.","fullyFundedDate":1759171131507,"projectUrl":"project/the-stars-in-our-classroom-will-glow/9751194/","projectTitle":"The Stars in Our Classroom Will Glow!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Willison","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3617009_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1504034981846","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/rwillison297"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_30257","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":500,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":90,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":30257,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Vineland Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Vineland Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/baldwin-park-unified-school-district/vineland-elementary-school/30257"}
