When they walked into the classroom and saw the kitchen, their excitement was undeniable. They were thrilled to know that this kitchen was theirs to have and use for rest of their time here in Kindergarten. One students said \"this is the best day ever, I always wanted a kitchen\". My heart melted. We use the kitchen during free play time, as well as, during group activities. \r\n\r\nWe have used the kitchen in a variety of ways. We have used it for simply playing and exploring. Many of my students have to help prepare meals in their own household. As well as, sometimes preparing things alone. We first discussed safety in and cleanliness, before we began to use the kitchen. We talked about washing our hands, fruits and vegetables, and even making healthy food choices. We also use the kitchen as part of our writing center/activities. Students have to make a list of ingredients they will need to cook a dish/meal, before cooking and then writing down the steps to prepare their dish/meal. They love to collaborate on what they will cook and who will be responsible for making certain parts of the meal. My current students and many students for years to come will enjoy your generous donation.
