I'm the Library Media clerk (otherwise known as the Librarian) for Hort Elementary School in Bakersfield, CA. I see our 700-or-so students every week, as I teach them a lesson or read them a story (with voices, of course!) My library is not a quiet one, what with Makerspaces, monthly writing contests, and the fostering of question-asking-and-answer-seeking. The library also fosters our sense of campus community--it is a safe place where open, frank discussions about character and choice-making happen. I think I'm doing an OK job, based on the notes, hugs, and "I wish I could just live in here!"s I get!
