Having access to additional 3D-printing filament means students can actively participate in the entire design process. From brainstorming and creating digital designs to printing, testing, troubleshooting, and improving their projects. Instead of simply learning about engineering and technology, students are becoming designers, inventors, and problem-solvers who can see their ideas come to life right in front of them. The excitement of holding something they designed themselves has increased student engagement, confidence, and willingness to persevere when their first attempt doesn't work.\r\n\r\nFor my students, especially those in a rural, Title I school where opportunities to use advanced technology outside of school may be limited, this project has helped make STEM learning more equitable and meaningful. The filament has allowed us to continue hands-on projects without students having to miss out because of limited supplies. Students are developing creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, spatial reasoning, and real-world technology skills while learning that mistakes are simply part of the design process. Most importantly, they are beginning to see themselves as capable creators and innovators, and that confidence extends beyond the Makerspace into other areas of their learning.","fullyFundedDate":1778628027322,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-creativity-one-filament-roll-at/10285403/","projectTitle":"Fueling Creativity One Filament Roll at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Blackburn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2349316_orig.jpg?crop=308,308,x0,y6&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1678294163552","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/gtteach"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_53760","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":329,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":72,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":85,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":6,"gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"11.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":77.6,"schoolId":53760,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Anne Watson Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Anne Watson Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arkansas/east-end-school-district/anne-watson-elementary-school/53760"}
