"Stay in your seat and do not move!" That's what students are use to hearing when they are in a classroom. When a student leans back in a chair, sits in the floor, sits on a table, lays down, or anything else unconventional they get scolded and hear a long conversation about how it's unsafe that honestly makes no sense! Newer and newer studies show that students should not stay still while they work. Studies show that students are able to access more of their mind and are more creative when they are able to move around or get in weird positions. This is why when we are thinking we shake our legs or end up laying upside down. A 2013 report from the Institute of Medicine concluded that children who are more active “show greater attention, have faster cognitive processing speed and perform better on standardized academic tests than children who are less active.” By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student creativity and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. These wobble chairs will allow my students to move in their seats without making a lot of noise or falling out when they lean back. Allowing them to concentrate and be creative while they are in an environment where they lack the ability to move around while they work, and also prevent distraction of their fellow classmates. They are also really fun!
