As an Artful Learning Legacy School, we intentionally integrate the arts with academics to deepen understanding and spark curiosity. The Obliteration Room project, inspired by the work of artist Yayoi Kusama, invited students to step inside a blank white space and become the artists themselves. When students first saw the empty white room, their reactions ranged from awe to eager anticipation. Many asked, \"We get to change all of this?\" That moment of possibility immediately set the tone for meaningful engagement.\r\nAs students began adding colorful dots to the walls, the room quickly became a living example of collaboration, creativity, and shared ownership. Students connected this experience to their learning about master artists, artistic concepts, and the idea that art can evolve through collective effort. Even students who are typically hesitant to participate felt confident contributing their own mark. Families, siblings, teachers, and administrators joined in, turning the exhibit into a joyful, reflective art-making experience that brought our entire community together.\r\nNext, students will continue reflecting on this experience through classroom discussions and lessons that connect visual art, pattern, observation, and personal expression to core academic concepts. The Obliteration Room will remain a powerful reference point as students explore how ideas grow, how individual contributions matter, and how learning can be immersive and meaningful. Your support made this unforgettable experience possible, and we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity you have given our students and community. Thank you for helping us create learning that is both rigorous and joyful.","fullyFundedDate":1762267474521,"projectUrl":"project/in-the-style-of-yayoi-kusamas-obliterat/9464989/","projectTitle":"In the Style of Yayoi Kusama's Obliteration Room","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Beshears","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10080423_orig.jpg?crop=780,780,x0,y91&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755803740539","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10080423"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_71140","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":530,"numTeachers":42,"percentFrplEligible":43,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":64,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":24,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"12.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":65.3,"schoolId":71140,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Arkansas Arts Academy K-6 Campus on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Arkansas Arts Academy K-6 Campus","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arkansas/arkansas-department-of-education/benton-co-school-of-the-arts/71140"}
