The new materials have been simply fantastic! I was able to obtain many educational materials for inside the classroom. In addition, I was able to buy (thanks to all of you), many soccer balls and outside equipment as well. All the materials are being utilized to help the students build basic learning skills: counting, sharing, turn-taking, etc.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, they were absolutely elated! Anything new is always going to gauge their interest! That is understandable! However, they have really gravitated toward the items and use them daily!!!\r\n\r\nThe next step in utilizing the materials is to scaffold and build on prior skills already acquired. You do that by showing students how to use the different materials in more ways than one! Our young students can easily throw them and they glide so easily, so there is never a bad throw, and cheers from everyone for each successful catch! These have been a wonderful tool for learning cooperative play and sportsmanship, which are such important social skills. Now our kids feel proud to share and take turns, and are enjoying playing together with fewer conflicts. The hand sanitizer wipes have helped keep materials clean, and stopped the spread of germs so that fewer students are missing school because of illness. The squishy fidget balls have been a favorite sensory tool and reward for students to earn, and they have loved the special snacks too!
