They offer the engaging, complex challenges that these bright minds crave. The students' enthusiasm is incredible, and the level of intellectual challenge is exactly what they need.\r\n\r\nYour support has made it possible to provide a dynamic and inspiring learning space where every student can feel challenged and successful. The books were all there waiting for me when I returned from fall break and it was such an exciting way to start the new quarter! I feel like I have a book to target just about every speech-language goal imaginable now.\r\n\r\nFor the first week, I let my speech students just explore all of the new books and it was so fun to see which books they gravitated to the most. So far, the most popular were A Case of the Zaps, which has cute and engaging robot characters that teach students about anxiety and regulation in a relatable way, and Gustavo the Shy Ghost, which teaches students about being themselves and finding their community. \r\n\r\nDuring the second week, we spent time reading Dear Zoo. We all got lots of laughs thinking about what it would be like to have an elephant or a monkey as a pet! We also enjoyed using my zoo animal toys to act out and sequence the events in the story. \r\n\r\nI'm eager to continue diving in to the rest of the books that you so generously gifted my speech room! Having my project fully funded was such a sweet surprise at the end of a chaotic school year. It gave me renewed optimism and enthusiasm to start the new school year next month.\r\n\r\nMy students already enjoyed digging into new materials and activities during the last couple weeks of the school year. The farm animals puzzle has been one of the biggest hits! My students were so surprised when they heard the animal sounds when they placed each animal in the puzzle, and they enjoyed finding the corresponding animals and sounds on their AAC devices. \r\n\r\nOver these first couple weeks of summer break, I've been enjoying planning out different thematic activities and lessons for the different weeks of the school year, incorporating all of the amazing new materials that you gifted my speech room. They are able to redirect their energy into something positive and get centered enough to get them back into their learning environment as soon as possible.\r\n\r\nThank you again for supporting our initiative to help students practice emotional regulation in a positive way, and create and system that allows for our students to get back to what they do best...learn!","fullyFundedDate":1730394551627,"projectUrl":"project/emotional-regulation-support-with-blocks/8789226/","projectTitle":"Emotional Regulation Support with Blocks and Other Hands-on Manipulatives!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Duff","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3699121_orig.jpg?crop=611,611,x642,y1074&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1647058085753","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3699121"},{"teacherId":8375203,"projectId":8960319,"letterContent":"Wow! Opening all the packages you helped purchase for my project felt a lot like I imagine winning the lottery to feel! I'm so honored that you trusted me with your financial resources. My students are loving every item you funded!\r\n\r\nOne of the favorites so far has been the swivel chair. I've been taking it out to recess when I'm working with many of my autistic students, and the students all flock over to me when they see me come outside with the chair! It's provided an opportunity for my students to expand their language use and self advocacy skills, both with speech and with their AAC devices. We've practiced saying: \"I want a turn! It's so fun! It's so fast! I don't like waiting. Let's spin! Push me please. I can spin myself.\" and so many more phrases. I love hearing all of the laughter that results from the swivel chair!\r\n\r\nWe're also enjoying the light up spinning tops. They were initially a little tricky for some students to figure out, which provided an excellent chance to practice asking for help and learning a new skill. The farm animals book has been a fun way for my students to make literacy more interactive. \r\n\r\nI'm truly grateful for all of your support and I know these materials will be valuable communication builders for my students for many years to come!","fullyFundedDate":1734100414423,"projectUrl":"project/language-moves-when-we-move/8960319/","projectTitle":"Language Moves When We Move!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Whalen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8375203"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_42248","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":508,"numTeachers":36,"percentFrplEligible":31,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":9,"percentWhite":42,"percentIndigenous":3,"percentLatinx":32,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":72.7,"schoolId":42248,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Fuller Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Fuller Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/tempe-elementary-school-district-3/fuller-elementary-school/42248"}
