We are absolutely LOVING all of our new manipulatives, carpet, books and all the learning games imaginable! Students have become more engaged in reading, gained SO much confidence and are now asking to read in their down time! When we got our first delivery, students were working on IXL. I had students put their computers away, and we got to open a LOT of our things together as a class. Students were cheering with excitement, saying things like \"I love those!\" or \"That looks so cool!\". My class could barely contain their excitement for the rest of the day, just itching to get their hands on our new goodies! We have already put these games & manipulatives to good use since recieving them, and cannot wait to continue to watch my students curiosity grow and build confidence in themselves!\r\n\r\nThe following day we did small group reading centers during WIN time. Students were able to use our new Science of Reading games we got from Lakeshore, and were having SO much fun! One group was working on a partner play, reading a script back and forth, one group was working with sequencing and putting cards in the correct order, while one group was reading our new books and writing about it! My small group was working with multi-sensory reading cards where we worked on chopping & blending words! Students were engaged, working diligently, and laughing in the process! Each time my group was independently writing, and I was walking around checking in on independent groups, students were focused & on task the whole time- something that can be a struggle in 1st grade! \r\n\r\nIn the coming weeks, we will be working on telling time and counting money in math. To review these concepts, we will be able to utilize our grab & play math games! Students will be able to practice these concepts in a way that is fun, engaging, and memorable. Students learn best through play, and by having these games & materials, we can ensure students will be the most successful versions of themselves imaginable!","fullyFundedDate":1764962959905,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-love-for-reading-to-last-a-li/9907141/","projectTitle":"Creating a Love for Reading to Last a Lifetime!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kovatch","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10355233_orig.jpg?crop=4284,4284,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1763782898003","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10355233"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_48445","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":642,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":6,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":80,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"17.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":48445,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Cochise Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Cochise Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/scottsdale-unified-school-district/cochise-elementary-school/48445"}
