Any student would benefit from having access to a well thought out sensory motor lab. Exercise is an evidence-based practice for students on the autism spectrum disorder as it decreases undesired behavior and increases focus. A sensory motor lab would provide the benefits of exercise along with meeting the sensory needs of students with special needs. The equipment selected would be used to create a motor lab consisting of 10 stations. The items were chosen with consideration to students' sensory needs as well as tasks that improve fundamental gross motor skills. The motor lab would be set up with visual supports, such as using the numbered polyspots for organization, the foot markers (foot placement during jumping jacks) and hand markers (hand placement for fitness activities).
