Not only do our non-verbal students have a way to communicate in every classroom or specials they attend but our other students have an opportunity to communicate their needs when they are dysregulated. Your contribution has allowed every staff member on the campus to have visual supports on a book ring that they can wear with their ID to communicate with the students as well.\r\n\r\nAll our general education students are getting introduced to communication buttons and how they work. This is something that has never happened on our campus and they are learning and having a better understanding on how to communicated with our special education students throughout the day especially when they come into our class or when they go into the general ed classes.\r\n\r\nWe are so grateful and thankful for all your support. During guided reading, I target specific comprehension skills and encourage students to ask questions about the text. Independent reading allows students to engage with books that pique their interest, fostering a love of learning. This is where students use these books mostly as they jeep it in their book bags. We use \"book bags\" which are where all their books are stored.\r\nSeveral students who are naturally curious about animals and the world around them are especially drawn to these nonfiction books. We do have the students grab 3 non-fiction books, 3 \"fun\" books, and 3 books that are appropriate for them to read.
